I just picked up my z and am looking at different routes for mods. Im doing the basic bolt on's and tune like catback and lower downpipes. Instead of doing a heat exchanger and intake I am debating going with the Z1 air to air intercooler. I was hoping to get some feedback on this mod. It seems way more efficient than the factory air to water set up even with upgraded heat exchanger and even upgraded ams intercoolers. The initial cost is obviously a good chunk but IMO its worth it. Has anoyone done this kit? If so could you tell me your experience with it? Thanks.

While I haven't got the Z1 myself, I'm looking at air to air. I'm kind of surprised at the level of 'fabrication' involved with the Z1 kit, given that they have such a large presence apparently in the Z community.

I'm not cool with paying $2,000+ for an intercooler kit to have to hack metal out of my radiator support, so its a hard pass for me.

The Greddy kit currently in development, though, doesn't seem to need that done.

Ya the trimming of the radiator support does suck. I dont know when the greddy kit is supposed to hit the market but ill be keeping an eye out for it. I still may go the z1 route. Its going to be a month or two before I do anything but it seems silly to spend money on an intake and heat exchanger instead of putting that money towards a much more efficient air to air system.
