Oil settles over time. I always felt better putting in fresh oil before first spring start up. I figure oil coming from the top gets into the proper places much quicker than sucking it up through the sump. Is that incorrect thinking?
Can anyone give me a good sense of which method is better?

1) Oil change before storage
2) Oil change before reawakening
3) Oil change before storage and before reawakening?

#1 is the best option. Its better to store with new oil than used oil with contaminants.

What about the first startup? The new oil slowly soaks up all the old contaminants over the winter and runs them through the system on first startup. I feel like all those contaminants have time to settle to the bottom through the winter, and then you drain them all out and put the fresh oil in, not to mention the idea of new oil being at the top of the engine quicker on a first. start up after an oil change. I also worry about engine wear after a long winter of settling.

Wow. Boy, it's been a long time. Are you still in Maine? I see the car has changed. Are you still racing?

A very long time. I loved my 350Z and drove it until the seats wore out, which was not a very accommodating situation for someone with a horrible back injury. I moved back to NH at about the same time, and it was the end of any racing. I have a '23 Performance in Rosewood now.

Do you ever hear from the old club members? I don't know many of them very well.

I am involved. I typically do one to two events per year. The one I never miss is the one at the Larz Andersen museum. My son and I drive both cars down there with the club. We typically meet up in Bedford and head down. Where in NH are you? You should join in on some of the cruises.

I'm in the Canaan/Enfield area. I don't get much club news because I'm not on Facebook.

I'm not either. I just ask the president to text me. I can let you know when something happens. Supposedly, he said he was going to be better at updating tgecweb site. Actually Pete and John both show up from time to time too
