you get to the dealer and good news is there are no stealership mark-ups, and they have two z's to choose from. so the dilemma is this....
they are both in the 2 colors you like the least or do not have the transmission you wanted. knowing there may be delays / shortages due to demand and the pandemic, chip shortages, blah, blah, blah. will you still purchase one or wait?

how important is the color and tranny to you? say they have your favorite color, auto and you wanted manual?
personally both are very important. im getting a stick. color is important too, but would be willing to choose between silver, gray if blue isn't available.

added a poll for fun...

Agree…went to my dealer this morning and it’s looking like Aus may not even get the three levels…we may only get one.

During my car life I’ve always settled.
Latest car, I loved the car but not the colour because I just had black the car before, but it was the only one and they were no longer being made so I got it.
The Honda I really wanted the type R but I had two small kids and a baby seat that was troublesome, so I got the next level down with four doors
The car before that was a convertible, but I wanted a mini convertible…couldn’t afford it so I got an astra.
When I was young I saw a purple Celica that I loved, but it was 5 years old,and my mum and dad talked me into a sporty Hyundai ( forget what it was called) because I could get it new and with a warranty
My husband had a Lotus, but we had to sell it to pay for our two cars

The Z was supposed to be it. The car I will not move on in terms of colour or manual, or trim level…and now it seems I may not have a choice of trim. If that’s the case I’m not 100 percent anymore because I could stretch to get the Emira, and whilst my husband would not pay extra for most cars…I could twist his arm for a Lotus.
But I’ve been wanting the Z for soooo long. I just hope that we get close to top level trim…and no I won’t budge on colour or transmission, cause when you do it, you are never a hundred percent happy…I have learnt that the hard way

Fortunately I'm in a situation where I can wait another year or two, so that's the plan. There just aren't many brand new cars that do anything for me especially in this expected price range.

:) This should be a fun thread lol ! As for meself, I'd take any color I liked, since I could see it right there in person. However, I could never take a color I couldn't joyfully live with. It would have to be an auto trans, as my wife has to be able to drive it. I tried teaching her a stick years a stick years ago. The woman can't walk and chew gum at the same time, but I still love her ;) Price and options is another factor, even w/o markup. I am not a fellow given to impulse purchases...usually :p

Manual -> Nismo -> Sport/Tech ->Sport ->Color in that order. If individual special order color is avail, that might move up the order :D. The Z will be 'mass' produced, I'm not in a frenzy mode....until the 17th :p

I've never been one to settle. I will only buy when I can get the Nismo in the exterior and interior combo that I want along with the option packages I want. I am torn between deep impact blue, gunmetal, and that new cement gray type color so I would be flexible on that as I think I would like all 3 as long as it has the 2 tone roof.

I find it hilarious that so many in the US can’t drive a manual….in Australia it’s only just turning the corner with people not learning manual, due to manuals not being made as much.
The reason? Because in Australia if you get your manual licence you can drive both manual or auto…but if you get your auto you can only drive an auto. So if you got a job in the mines, defence force, police etc they require a manual license…and if you hire a car or just decide to one day change to a manual you can not, so most people persevered until they get their manual license.
I love the show “the amazing race” and it always cracks me up watching the contestants try to drive stick when it’s obvious they have only ever driven auto.
Also drives me a little nuts, you can probably hear me in the US from here, screaming at my T.V “ YOU KNOW THEY ALWAYS DO THIS WHY DIDN’T YOU LEARN TO DRIVE A STICK” LOL

While I'm still waiting to see what colors will be available, I'm not budging from 6-speed manual and ST (or whatever it ends up being called ) trim level. If need be, I'll special order mine and wait for it.

There's a good chance this will be the last fun car I'll be able to buy. I'm not settling for anything less than everything I want.

.... I would wait ... but better yet I wish Nissan would offer us the options to pick out features upgrade like the Porsche ... I would pick the same boring magnetic black color with all driving safety features .... with a set of staggered 20" wheels plus a wider foot print ...

Have never seen "The Amazing Race". Will check YouTube for some episodes :D It's true, you Aussies are far more rugged and self-reliant than much of the soft and entitled meat-sacks in the USA.

I won’t say that, Aussies are getting soft as well these days ( way of the world) …I’m just saying. In Aus if you get your license in an Auto it’s against the law to drive a manual and you get a restricted license.
…therefore most of us push through the pain to get a manual license in case we need it for future use

attn: new poll questions to be added to this thread.

1. are you rugged and know to drive a manual?

2. or are you a soft and entitled meat-sack?

I'd prefer to buy Nismo - 6MT at launch (if offered and available), but I'm willing to wait for the right one to come through. I try and keep my car's for as long as possible, and this will not be an exception. Nismo, 6MT, White/Battleship Grey. No exceptions. I waited 4 months to find my S4 with packages/options I want and it has been worth the wait.
