Guess I gotta stay with my 2009 GT-R. Advertised as 480Hp and 3.5 seconds 0-60, I added an HKS exhaust and ran it on the dyno at Cobb Tuning before and after. It showed about 520Hp after, so 0-60 should be about 3.23 seconds.

New Z owners, meet me at a stoplight and we'll see. Carrollton TX. You come to me to give the old man a break; 81 next month.
When I am your age, my concern for top speed would be how many seconds I could hit the toilet :). I am 49 at the moment LOL!

See ya there, in my buddy's Tesla! Wait, can I make it there on one charge?
Google says Teslas get from 262 to 405 miles per charge.Google Maps calculates the shortest route from Seattle to Carrollton to be 2090 miles via Salt Lake, Denver, and Amarillo. Assuming that there's a charging station at every point where you run out of juice, that's 8 or 6 charges [5.1 on the 405 mile model, but 5 charges leaves you stuck 225 miles short].

But of course, I was discussing the GT-R versus the Z or 400Z, as I call it. But I agree; if you borrow your other buddy's Bugatti Veyron, you'd leave me in your dust.

As to a Tesla, there's a reason I've been to 6 F1 GP's, starting with Nurburgring in 1966, Watkins Glen in 1973, Dallas in 1984, and Austin 2012-14, and now subscribe to F1TV, and don't care about Formula E at all.

The sound, of course, sadly lacking a bit in the turbo hybrid era, but once you've heard a Ferrari V-12 winding up and shifting as at Watkins Glen, you'd be addicted to F1.

How long does it take to charge? Maybe I am being over the top ... Do you take a box of tissues while waiting for the charge??? Which WILL cost significantly more than a charge from home. Politics aside ... The loss of the combustion engine is fight worth fighting for. I didn't sign up for this nor a 5000 pound vehicle. Are we going to become a socialist nation? A charge for you .... and nothing more. I never thought it would get this bad. Maybe I am old fashioned ... I don't know. You don't know what you got until it's gone.

Hey man, you said after I get my new Z to come meet you! Didn't say I had to bring it!

I have driven my friend's Tesla many times, and still prefer to drive home in my Infiniti Q60 with the Infiniti Sports Exhaust, the sound is so sweet and makes up for the nausea-inducing, silent acceleration of a Tesla. My friend admits, he is totally bored of the acceleration now and drives it like a 4 banger Camry. There's no soul to it...

Just wanted to point out, if you call out others on 0-60, you better watch your own back. There's a bunch of ridiculous EVs coming online now....even EV trucks that are getting right into the discussion of mid/high-2 sec 0-60.

This necro'ed thread seemed the most appropriate place to post this....

I set up a 370Z in Forza Motorsport 7 with the Redsport engine (tt. 400 hp, 350 torques) in a 6 sp MT car weighing about 3400 lbs with sport-street tires and suspension. If FM's modelling gives an accurate indication we'll get a 0-60 of about 4.5 sec on the MT with the quarter in 13.0, and a 60-0 braking distance of 130 feet (that last number seems too long, this car should manage 110 feet in performance trim with that wide rubber).

From driving this car around tracks (and roads in Forza Horizon 5) it's clear that guys like me coming from a slower 4 cylinder car are going to be in for a shock, the Z will feel no-qualifications FAST. The speedo just piles up the numbers relentlessly, you are in license-losing territory in 7 or so seconds from a dead stop on a freeway. 120 MPH is nothing in this car. Some driver re-education will be required.

I can attest to this. It also plows across fields, through barriers and fences, and flies up and down mountains pretty nicely with the right tires as well ?

Glad to see you're also enjoying FH5 and still playing 7.

i think that was the guestimate factoring in the 400 hp and the weight being heavier than the 370z.

also there were the stats posted on the videogame 'project cars 3'
I think the Supra is producing hp dyno numbers in the high 380s, which would put the at-the-crank numbers above 400, so I’m not sure if the Z will actually have more hp. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

The hard part is putting the power to the pavement without prolonged wheel spin.

@H2O_Doc You are correct, I know that B58TU vehicles and non-Comp S58 vehicles produce hp #'s at the wheels similar to what's marketed as crank hp. Examples, Mk5 marketed as 382bhp, dynos 388whp; G82 marketed as 473bhp, dynos 488whp.

The Comp and xDrive B58TU/S58 vehicles either are or are going to be rockets because they can actually put the power down.

Just read a road test of the new M240, it's faster than the previous M2. Something like 3.6 0-60.

BMW can easily turn up the juice on the Supra and put the Z in the weeds if they want to.

Thanks. I just wish Microsoft has used the physics and force feedback code from FM7 in Horizon 5, it would have made driving with a wheel in that game just about perfect. Love doing track days in FM7 with all kinds of cars.
