Nissan Project NAT2 SCCA Touring 2

October 28, 2026

What happens when a group of Nissan engineers who love racing gets its hands on a Z? Project NAT2. Developed in-house by the Nissan Acceleration Team (NAT), an all-volunteer group of employees who pursue motorsports in their free time, the purpose-built race car takes Z from the street to SCCA competition.

Project NAT2 Z was built to SCCA Touring 2 specifications with upgrades to its engine, suspension and braking systems using a mix of NISMO and aftermarket components. Inside, the cabin has been stripped and fitted with a roll cage and other competition safety equipment.

See the Nissan SCCA Z build sheet below for the complete list of parts included.

Looks like this one has the RAYS/NISMO NE24 that @Exquisite_Red mentioned yesterday "is coming"

Not sure if they will make my hit list, but hoping they offer more than black, and more fitments, as compared to the LMRS1 and LMGT4.

All of those changes, gutting the interior, etc., only to keep the grossly overweight OEM front strut tower bar. For those who haven't felt the heft of that thing detached from the car, or maybe one from a 350Z which I believe is/was similarly obese, it's "I deserve 3 airplane seats because of my weight" fat.

The crazing and unevenness on that front brake rotor don't look fantastic. Looks like they've already run that sucker to its limit. #tentenths

Interesting to see 5w30 oil, the thicker differential fluid makes sense. I never realized Motul ATF could be an option, I need to look into that. Funny to see they don't use the NISMO radiator caps , I got suckered into buying one but the factory ones are higher pressure so I don't even use it, piece of junk. I love the livery on this.

That’s them! I mean, it’s basically a regular NE24 with a NISMO sticker on it, but still pretty cool. With my weird obsession of only putting OEM or Nismo parts on my car, this gives me a new option.

I thought the NE24 was only available in 18", but it looks like there are a good selection of 19" fitments, assuming they're still available. I can't find mention of it at all on their website, and I'm pretty sure it's not in their 2026 catalog. The OG NE24, or at least the latest version available came in Shining Black Metal ("HM" finish code). If the NISMO NE24 comes in that color I may have to dive in. A lot to blow on a slightly different color and one less spoke, but I've made worse decisions.
