The day after I go my Z (about 3 weeks from now) the steering wheel started doing this.
At first I thought it was some scratches that I didn't noticed on the initial test drive and inspection. But It's been getting worse.
I'm at a lose of what would be causing it or how to fix it. At an attempt to stop whatever is going on, I put a coat of Leather Honey Leather Conditioner.

Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't wear rings, and often wear leather gloves while driving.

Pay attention to how you enter and exit the car. I had a scratch on my wheel on the lower left side of the wheel. I noticed it lines up perfectly to where my hips cross as I get out of the car.

seeing this and the shift knob wear others experience is ridiculous. pretty soon, these will look like a 1980's car that spent there entire life in the sun, can't wait. not the best choice of materials from Nissan.

Nissan/Infiniti leather has always been crappy and easily cracks or peels

z1 sunshade should help with this. I use mine 90% of the time. Even on super hot days itll stay pretty cool inside the car. Tinted windows needed on any Z as usual.

I feel like the oil / moisture in your hands can compromise the steering wheel leather over time as well but usually takes years to occur i would estimate
