i love a short shifter but concerned about damaging the oem shift knob. anyone able to remove it without damage?

i love a short shifter but concerned about damaging the oem shift knob. anyone able to remove it without damage?

I plan to replace the knob with BiiletWorkz Fusion knob.

I read someone used thick socks to wrap the knob and a big pipe wrench. And having a 2nd person with pliers holding the shaft under the shift boot. Its to prevent it from twisting and breaking while removing the knob

Another person mentioned using a rubber strap oil filter removal tool. Still need something around it from ruining the leather

I believe both of those methods I found on google search for 370z knob removal
