I noticed that I never have to press the side button on the auto shifter for it to move into Drive, Reverse, Neutral, etc.

I was wondering if other people experience this behavior as well? I’m not sure if something is broken or if this is normal. It feels like it should not move unless I press the button.

I am new to the platform as well. And I went to double check but yeah I need to use the button to get into reverse. So I'm not sure what this means for you.

You are right. I tested it again before seeing your post. Basically no button works for Drive and Neutral. But reverse requires button. Seems to be it should be button for everything to keep it consistent.

At least it works as intended.

I use one of the car washes that pulls your car through and getting into neutral was so difficult for me until I figured out if I don't push the button and just give it a light forward tap, it goes right into neutral. I kept hitting reverse when pushing the button.

Now that I'm used to the system I actually like the shifter.

Button for reverse in case you are at a stop or going slow and need to get into neutral. Dont use button and press it up to get into neutral.

Basically:

Up + button = reverse
Up = neutral
Down = drive
Down x2 = manual mode

Thanks. Makes sense. Seems to me the most intuitive thing is to require the button for everything for everything except pressing Park button.
