Anyone noticed the side gaskets/strips on the rear hatch loose? I rarely open my rear hatch, and at this point it’s almost always to reattach the side strips. Walking behind the car I don‘t See the strips, I see brackets/ hardware, as the strips come loose and slide inward under the hatch itself. There are C-shaped features in the strips that snap around posts under the C-pillar, and for some reason they will NOT stay attached. Worse on the passenger side for some reason. Does‘t look like anything’s damaged/broken, and don’t want to break out superglue, but also not sure if it’s worth a dealer visit…and they may just glue them anyway.

Yep. I have to always push them back into their slots after washing/wiping down inside the under area of hatch to dry.

I noticed it and have chosen to just make sure they are in place before closing the hatch. Two lil pieces of double stick tape will fix it and you'll save the trip. I love quirks and am glad im not the only person that noticed that lol
Haven’t fully removed them to inspect everything. I like the tape idea. Where did you put it?

…Go Bucs!

Can you post pictures of where these strips are? And would like to see the 'fix' with the double sided tape.
I haven't seen this with my Z, but ... time will tell.

I use my hatch almost daily to put my briefcase in the morning and out in the evening and I've never had this issue. Definitely something I will watch for now.

1. Quick pic and only from the outside.
2. JUST got home from another stay at the hospital. Bowel perforation THEY DIDN’T CATCH 3 WEEKS AGO!!! Fortunately I was loaded with probably a 6-figure street value amount of narcotics and super-antibiotics, so it healed on its own. Really annoyed with the state of medical care near me. I’m sure you wanted to hear that. Reason you had to suffer through it was solely to excuse the state of my Z as it’s been stuck in my driveway for a week and is filthy.

When you look into gap between the hatch and katana you should only see black weatherstripping. As you can see in the pic below the weatherstripping has come loose from the bracket(?) and wiggled its way completely under the hatch lid.

I took a couple of photos of how mine looks:
1757561006393-7m.webp

1757561115565-c7.webp

Both are on the passenger side, the first is at the bottom, the second at the top.
The weather strip is held in by a plastic retainer.
Both sides of the car were tight within the plastic and didn't really move around.
I can see the gap in the first photo, but not sure if that is what you see when the hatchback is raised.
Thank you for posting the photo, it helped to see where the problem is.
@FSUZ33 I hope you are healed up and feel better!

Trim is covered under warranty. I would bring it to a Nissan dealer and have them replace or fix it.

Is that a fact? I have the same issue but didn’t know the dealer would fix or replace.

3 years 36k miles bumper to bumper warranty covers everything except maintenance parts like break pads. Nissan once resurfaced my Altima rotters under warranty when it was almost to the end of 3 years. Trim is definitely covered. Tell the dealer that this trim is becoming loose.
