In the vid, they mention that Ford Model E as a company (separate from ICE Ford) can sell directly to consumers, as electric car companies already have a carve out to be exempt from the dealer status quo.

I don't know the legality of it all. It's just what they were sayin' in the vid.
I still think that's on a state-by-state basis. I know here in Georgia there's currently a push to allow Rivian to sell direct. My understanding is the only reason they are trying to do a carve out for Rivian is because they are building a production facility here.

Yeah, I think that's why Tesla, despite building a gigafactory in TX, can't sell directly to people there...

As long as there are dealers and politicians, you'll not have factory direct sales.

This business model has been used for over a hundred years.

Because it IS something a moron cobbled together ... a moron named Elon Musk.
That "moron" transformed space operations and kicked Russia to the curb in the US Space Program, made the first line of viable volume and variety of electric cars, provided internet for rural populations (no thanks to the gubmint), and supercharged our 401k with their NASDAQ listing and 4-for-1 split.

You can already order direct from the factory for some cars in some places.

That "moron" [Elon Musk] transformed space operations and kicked Russia to the curb in the US Space Program, made the first line of viable volume and variety of electric cars, provided internet for rural populations (no thanks to the gubmint), and supercharged our 401k with their NASDAQ listing and 4-for-1 split.
He nearly bankrupted Tesla in his efforts to play with rockets (some would say it would have been blessing if he had) and at one point tried to sell Tesla to Steve Jobs. His "kicked Russia to the curb in the US Space Program" amounts to having sent just 4 people to the Space Station - Russia, barring the current Ukraine invasion, is still the go-to for launching humans into space. His "variety" of electric cars currently amounts to two sedans and one semi-SUV. His rural internet idea clogs up near-space with satellite space junk (40 out of 49 recently launched were knocked out of the sky recently), He has numerous ludicrous ideas, most of which never work, and rants and raves like a loud-mouthed lunatic (a lot like Greta Thunberg, because they both supposedly have Asperger's autism). The few ideas of his that do work are due to the hard work of his employees, not him.

Far too many people see him as some sort of be-all-and-end-all God, when the reality is he's just a raving looney.

Elon Musk is a messianic huckster

American Astronauts don't launch from Russia anymore, not since Dragon was Certified flight worthy last year. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jonath...-russia-with-final-launch-before-crew-dragon/

The Starlink satellites are launched into low earth orbit, below everything else. Those that came down a couple of weeks ago due to a Solar Storm burned up in the atmosphere. I don't see anyone else providing emergency access in Ukraine...

His four electric vehicles (you forgot the Roadster) are more than any other nameplate in the world.

And, yes, I agree he's a bit, shall we say, eccentric.

Nope. NASA is still using Russian space services as well ...

Despite Ukraine invasion, NASA continues its space station partnership with Russia
Officials say they are monitoring the situation with Ukraine ahead of the return of astronaut Mark Vande Hei on a Russian spacecraft.

Yes, but anything going up has to try to negotiate a way through them ... the more he and other s (such as Google) put up, the more difficult that gets, and Musk plans to have tens of thousands of them in orbit.

The Roadster is not longer made, so you can't buy a new one, so it doesn't count now.

Three models. Audi currently makes at least three fully-electric models. I not wasting time trying to count up the other makers, but quantity doesn't make it any good ... just look at how many computers run Windows!

"Eccentric" is just the polite way of saying he's a looney tune. :p

You know, at the end of the day, EM will still be way more successful and richer than you.

Your feelings about him could be interpreted as jealousy.
