I am using what is called a "wedge style" from Arkon. Its different but doing what I needed for now. Wanted to try something different.

Does it move around? Saw your Amazon review. I was going to have a customize holder at the side of the console but its not worth for such a small item.

That’s pretty interesting. It looks like it could work for my needs. Haven’t seen one like that before- thanks for sharing!

Does it stay in place well? Do you need to remove it to move the passenger seat ? Do you feel it damages the surrounding areas of the seat and or center console?

I've noticed that after months of use it does move around a bit as the plastic gets worn in and it would also depend on how often you adjust the passenger seat. It has not worn the surrounding area but I do not move the seat very often. It does move some if you move the seat but all in all I'm glad I got it. It is not anchored by anything except the clearence between the seat and console. If you want to remove it all you is pull it out. I've had it in my Z 11 months and it has gotten a little loose and I sometimes have to push it down in place but I really like where the phone is placed as far as being able to reach it and it is indeed "different".

Thanks for the info! I think I’ll try it out.

I found a really good phone mount solution that does NOT require gluing anything to your dash or blocking any air vents. I already had these leather clips for my sunglasses and found that it fits very snug on the side bolsters. I ordered a high quality magnetic phone mount with two articulating points and super-glued it to the clip. Combine that with a right angle charging cable and I have a phone mount that doesn't get in the way of my shifter and keeps my phone charged. The clips also come in different colors. Just make sure to fold the flap in on itself so it grips tighter and you don't have a flappy piece dangling down.

You could use any phone mount, but I found this was a low profile mount with two articulating points which is exactly what I needed. It's also made of metal and feels high quality. My phone already had a metal ring on the back which attaches to the strong magnet. The mount comes with stick on metal strips if you don't have a magnetic phone case, but I think a proper magnetic case looks way better.

I'm doing something similar but with a clamp mount, a 17mm ball and Spigen to MagSafe mount. Will edit to add links and pics later...

I got this one from Ali express for my Nismo but the only downside is that the Z vents drop to a slight angle because there’s no way to make the vents stay still so all vent style version will drop at an angle a bit.
