Performance Serian blue cost

I'm looking at 13% sales tax here which is obviously insane.
Performance: $58,498
Destination: $1,950
Sales Tax: $7,858

= $68,306
+ License fees, AC fee, tire fee, financing/admin fees, paint colour price

I'm lookin probably close to 70k CDN out the door lol
Definitly close to $70,000CAD: You forgot to add the paint surcharge to your out the door price! o_O

yeah well its pointless to compare these kinds of things in different countries. Canadians generally make less money then average americans. Our housing prices even the cost to live an example in my area a small home is worth 1.5million and up. My family just recently sold my grandmas house a vancouver special(really old house) for 2.1m
Actually I remember seeing a news report sometime in the past year that the average individual income in Canada had finally exceeded the US average - stuck in my mind. (After currency conversion of course.) Possibly it was household income, might have more 2 income households here.

Just doing a bit of math, so far a Serian Blue performance with floor matts.

Car 49,990
Destination fee 1,115
Paint 1,695
Floor matts 400
Total 53,200

Then a taxes in Michigan 56,392

Crazy. Paint is extra? What?
i don't understand $1695 for paint!! Jeep Wrangler paint costs are no more than $495 i believe. I love the blue but not paying that for it. I'll take the "free" paint color and be happy. I'll also take a sport over performance if i can actually get one.

Hey Canadians, when you cry don't forget that people like me in Quebec have 15% taxes so with the paint we are above the 70k for the Z ;)

Not a single person in this thread has asked the right questions.

1) Where is this from? It's not Nissan's website. Is it a dealer quote? If so, that paint cost could be a line item from Nissan (published nowhere as of yet that I have seen) or a dealer "paint protection" fluff option, which is where my money is.

2) Do your taxes in Michigan account for a trade difference of some sort, or is that straight taxes against the grand total of $53,200?

I'm not seeing the full story here, but I do see you chose a 5 year old used Corvette for $2,000 less than the new Z before the same taxes were applied, minus a paint package.

Congratulations on your car purchase.

That's the point... the Z is priced to the point where you could get a Corvette instead.

Floor mats, block heater and a full tank of fuel are included in the Canadian "Freight and PDE" charge.

BTW, in Canada the charge for Metallic/Pearl paint is only $135, and the 2 tone Tricoat Metallic paint charge is $950.
That full tank of gas is almost worth the destination charge alone

Sorry bud, this is the stupidest argument in any car forum about pricing of new cars ever. "WHY WUD I GIT NEW CAR WHEN 5 YEAR OLD USED CAR INSTEAD". Yeah man, I could get a 1981 Ferrari Mondial 8 for $29,990 right now (VALUE!). That doesn't have shit to do with what a new Z should cost.

When the 370Z was new in 2009, there were plenty of 2004 Corvettes you could get for the same price, too.

The real point is you can't get a 2023 C8 Corvette for $50k. You can get a 2023 Z Performance for $50k. The modern Corvette is appropriately priced for what it is (an absolute performance bargain at its price point). At the end of the day, the Z is absolutely appropriately priced for a new sports car, but I wouldn't put it's performance-for-dollar value anywhere near the new Corvette.

We're talking about appropriate pricing for a NEW Z, and if you're comparing that against other cars with the purpose of determining if the NEW Z is priced correctly, you can only make that determination by comparing it against other NEW CARS in its segment. That value determination is not to be confused with what your personal budget is for a "new to you" car. They're separate things. Obviously what you can get with your money is 1000% relevant to you. It's barely slightly minutely relevant to Nissan's pricing strategy for the Z.

What we're really finding out on this forum is there are two people -

1) I have $45k in cash (or pre-approved for a $45k car note) and I want to buy a sports car
2) I want a new Z.

If the price of the new Z is not for you, have fun and move on.
