OEM performance spoiler install

Hey everybody, so I found me a used OEM spoiler for my 24 sport. I was planning on using only 3M tape for the install. However, I’ve decided to make it a little more secure and use the bolts on each end + 3M. I can’t find a template to drill the holes though. I was planning on making my own. However, I was wondering if anybody out there with the performance spoiler would be so kind to pop their hatch, pop off the round plastic covers on the driver and passenger side, and snap a photo? I’m trying to find out if the bolts of the spoiler are in the center of that hole underneath. I would greatly appreciate it. If I could find this out I could possibly just drill a couple of holes from underneath to make the install a lot easier.

Found it. The salesman printed it out for me when I picked up the car. They supposed to order the spoiler for me but never did. Ten pages. Not sure how to post pics here. I can send to you if you want.

I called my local dealer and they pointed me to the directions on the Nissan website. It is 10 pages and I went through it. However, when you buy the OEM spoiler from Nissan, it comes with a template to know where to drill the holes. I guess I’m going to have to figure out another way to do it.

Hey thank you! This definitely gives me an idea. I’m hoping somebody out there has the template but if not, I may just have to do the best I can without it.

I'm sure that Nissan has the internal documentation for an install guide, Problem is will they give it to you. Can always try emailing Nissan USA's customer service saying you bought the spoiler as an accessory and you need the guide to install it. You may get lucky, who knows. Or you can try asking the dealers service department, but its really hit or miss.

I seriously doubt the service advisors have access to consult and even if they did they likely wouldn't know what to do with it. However, if they could get a tech to look it up for you that could be another option.

Edit: if the other member on the forum here has the pictures or pdf of the document from Nissan that would likely be the best way to go. I'd still be massively careful, though. Even the thought of approaching my car with a drill is cringe.

Based on what you just said, now that I think about it you will likely have to buy the spoiler to get the template, as its most likely a blue foam type material packaged with the wing/spoiler. This is assuming its anything like how the jdm Fairlady Z badge is, which I'd bet is the case now that I think about it.

Hey, it’s all good. I found somebody on Facebook that mentioned that he was a Nissan tech and installed the spoilers all of the time on the sport models. I’m waiting on him to respond to see if he can get me the templates.

However, I did speak to the Nissan technician and he advised me to pop off the round covers under the hatch and drill dead center. He said that’s what he would do if he did not have the template. He said even with the templates they all come out a little different. He said drilling the wholes dead center actually would probably be better than using the template. When they do it at the dealership, they have to drill all of the holes for the clips as well so the template has to be used. He said the good thing is that the bolts on the spoiler slide around a little bit so you definitely have some play there. I will only be using the bolts on each end so I only have to drill two holes.

Honestly if you are drilling into the body of your car I'd just buy a new one and get the template with it. You can always use the template and return the spoiler/template when you are done, provided it isn't damaged.
