If the Z must be parked near garbage collection you’ll have to be exceedingly diligent. We are in a very rural area of KY and we’ve got bait stations and a water bucket trap running all warm seasons in both our shop and greenhouse. My wife feeds 2/3 drowned field mice a week to catfish. Get a few cheap bucket kits and BYO 5G bucket, super cheap on Amazon and THE most effective thing in the arsenal.

Field cats roam around but IMO they are never worth their salt to have on the land, ever as they eat everything that eats ticks/mites/chiggers/venomous spiders etc. cats are trash for any outdoor env. and I don’t hate cats at all, they just are.

For the home (we don’t like toxic chemical) she dowses/drowns cotton balls in cinnamon or mint oil and stuffs those in traffic areas, none of this few drops nonsense you see on from the influencers . Cinnamon seems to last longer.

Never ever leave any food scraps or even empty FF bags in the car. Raccoons will eat through anything short of metal to get in and they’ll try every night.

Good luck man, I’d 100% pay or do whatever necessary to keep that Z away from garbage at all costs in the first place. You nor the Z deserve the situation you’ve gotten in so think outside of assuming control is even an option.

What can be seen is not serious, but the invisible lines under the chassis are very serious. They make my gearbox stop working. So it's not easy to see with the naked eye.
Just throwing it out there that it is an incredible risk to you and any passenger if this is the case. No children passengers jesh.

My car is parked at the back door. The path at the back door is the place to collect garbage every week and use it to breed mice. Maybe I should deploy four rat cages next to the four tires.
Are you keeping the garbage in a enclosed container? That will help prevent rodents

A few yrs ago, our garbage company went on a strike. Neighbors would keep bags of garbage on the ground next to their overflowed cans. Next thing you notice is rats everywhere. Took a long time to rid of them with rat traps.

I wouldnt recommend poison. The rats may die under your house and the smell is bad. The smell goes away after a while, but your senses will never forget

Great point, if you have to buy all new receptacles with tight fitting lids and tidy up the area if you see things tipped etc.

here is a fun one for ya! Try buying some Cat Nip, just drop some around the car. maybe the neighborhood cats will come out to play. Also maybe try bleaching location before or after trash pick up. Anything has gotta be cheaper paying repair bills or moving

First Strike is the best bait for rodent control. My dad's pest control company uses this stuff and it 100% works. Make sure you put the packets in a small bait box; otherwise, if you have pets it could get rid of them as well. Put the bait stations in each corner of your garage.
