Although I’m sure a good chunk of all the bits required for production are on hand, this may cause more delays for future production…again ?. Not sure how long this war is going to last but man, just crazy.

as much as i hate this may delay the Z...it ultimately is a first-world problem. im really sad and fearful for those poor people and their families caught in the crossfire. my prayers go out to them...

As I was typing the post that was exactly what came to mind…in the end it doesn’t really matter as we have TONS to be grateful for on our end.

yeah not trying to derail the thread....we def need to discuss all possible delays here that could slow things down.

My wife has dual USA/Estonian citizenship. Estonia (a country located on the Baltic Sea just west of Russia) escaped from the clutches of Soviet occupation in 1991. I've visited Estonia many times, and own a small farmland there. The transformation of the country since occupation has been amazing.

Thank the stars for NATO. Estonia is a member nation. I have little doubt the sc*mbag thug Putin (with sadly the support of significant portions of the Russian citizenry), would have already rolled back into Estonia, as he is attempting now in Ukraine.

I could just imagine. That would be a terrible feeling knowing your country is at risk of being taken over. ?

We are talking delays with the Z right, and not bombs/missiles? The subject matter has drifted just a bit off topic :p

It has…normally I’d be like “WTF?!” but I guess I opened a doorway for folks to talk about what’s on their minds with all of this, so for therapeutic reasons I’m ok with it ?.

On topic though, I think the current production runs are most likely ok as it does take a while for the trickle-down effect but if they operate like the North American auto industry with just-on-time production that could be an issue. One thing I didn’t know (amongst the several things I don’t know ?) is the Ukraine supplies a lot of Palladium, key to catalytic converters…I guess they’ll just have to put on open down pipes on the Zs ?

Palladium is also key to powering small arc reactors. The side effects, however, tend to be a tad bit fatal.

I’ll weigh in on both.
My husband was born in the Czech Republic, and this brings back bad memories, he still remembers ( even though only 2 at the time) his parents wrapping him up, getting in the car, and exactly like the pictures you see…his car and thousands like them going one way as the tanks entered from the other, his mums family was punished for their defection. Her sister was in university studying medicine with a year to go…and was kicked out of university, their father was taken political prisoner and not released for 2 years, her mother use to go to the prison everyday without fail calling for his release.

This is bringing up horrible memories, and concerns for friends that still reside there, because let’s face it…he probably won’t stop at the Ukraine.

Now as sad as this is, the delay is frustrating and it doesn’t change the fact that I need a car. So I have given it till June, and if there are no firm set dates by then I’ll have to go shopping elsewhere…don’t want to, but need too.
For my mind we should have information now, and that means they should have secured all the elements to produce the car by now….at least for the first run. Maybe I’m being harsh, but I’ve had my contract since March/ April last year, I sold my car in preparation last year, so now I need a car. It comes down to that

Yeah, that part is not so good ?

I’m glad this post split the way it did…I can’t quite put into words my reasoning at the moment, a bit of writers block this late at night. I’ll revisit this in the morning.

Wow, that is a long wait with a contract and no wheels! I gave up waiting last year and bought a new Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport. Not a fire breathing 510HP Quadrifoglio though so the jump in horsepower to the Z will be welcomed. The Giulia does have a fantastic chassis though and that will be missed when I get rid of it to make room for the Z if and when it arrives ?.

Also, Russia currently supplies 30% of the world's aluminum ingot. Depending on what comes of current events (sanctions, war, etc), this will pose a huge obstacle for the entire global supply chain and economy. There will be more shortages/delays - there will be price increases. Alcoa has already stated that they will not be manufacturing aluminum less than 2" as of a week or so ago. There are basically only 2 other US aluminum suppliers aside from Alcoa. Other companies like Century have already near doubled cost on aluminum less than 2" as essentially a price gouge (for whatever reason). It's only a matter of time before this affects Kaiser and other aluminum manufactures. Most likely the next attractive solution would be to purchase from China, which again fuels their economy. Mix in price gouges, shortages and the still outrageous container prices...
