Hello ,

plan on storing my new Nissan z in the garage for 6months due to harsh winters in Shitcago , anybody done this ? And what’s the safe recommended place to leave my z on jack stands for an over a period of time . Manual says punch welds but I’m sure that’s just for short period of time ? Any answers are appreciated! Thanks !

Are you worried about the tires getting flat spots? I think they make stands / chucks that "cup" your wheels for long-term storage so the tires dont lose shape.

I live in a cold / winter place too. Usually at least once a month I can roll the Z out and drive around the block. Had my Z out in sub freezing temps a few times - on dry roads.
Worse case can back it out of the garage and let it warm up then roll back in. Keeps the tires active.

I also live in a place with cold winters. I garage my fun cars every winter, over inflate the tires to 45-48 psi or thereabouts, and have never had a problem with flat spots. No need for jack stands, unless you're using them to help prevent rodent attacks, in which case smear vaseline all over them.

If you want something that's easy to use over and over, and have the means, get a QuickJack the 6000TL should work great, or even the older 5000TL. It's an investment for sure. Mine mostly for swapping wheels/tires for track. Hey maybe a Black Friday special?

Summer tires in winter temps and driving on them is bad for the tires.

But it is good for you, because it ruins them, and you can then buy quality tires sooner.

It's really just "bad" if you want to drive it fast and don't let the tires warm up. In very cold temps tires will be more brittle as the rubber is harder leading to loss of traction and possible abnormal wear of the tires.

Going around the block or even across town once every coupe weeks on cold dry roads isn't going to cause any harm really. The issues are when you try to be a race car in cold temps or daily drive on summer tires - especially on non-dry roads.
