Anyone know how if this diagnostic scan tool will work for the 2024 Nissan Z:

https://www.amazon.com/iCarsoft-Dia...ywords=iCarsoft+JP+V2.0&qid=1749095036&sr=8-1

I am thinking of getting the iCarsoft JP V2.0 Diagnostic Scan Tool to clear up some warning lights on the dashboard. I have never used this tool before. I prefer to do the diagnostic on my car rather than take it to a shop or dealership.

I have some warning lights on my dashboard and I am hoping the diagnostic tool will turn off all the warning lights. I took my car to the dealership the other day and they told me to leave the Z at the dealership all day to diagnose all the warning lights on the dashboard. ALL DAY JUST TO DIAGNOSE!!!

Well, if all they are doing is connecting it to consult and looking at DTC's, yeah that isn't going to take all day to physically do, but I'm sure you know that. Now if you didn't have an appointment, they worked you in, etc that could be the reason.

That aside, any quality obdII interface will do basic reading of DTC's. The spelling errors in pictures for the one you've linked would be enough to keep me away though. Honestly my OBDLink has never failed me, and it cost me about $75.00 and is well known.

But if you really wanted to go wild, you could always buy a Consult III subscription and a compatible communication adapter.

I purchased mine from Harbor Freight and it does everything I need it to do.

Can you guys provide a direct link to the product you bought it from? This is all new to me. Thanks!

I purchased the midrange one while it was on sale a few years ago.

Will that tool solve the left and right blind spot lights? My left and right blind spot lights are not working. They both will turn on when I start the car but will not work when out driving around. Cars would be in the blind spots but nothing would happen.

Never owning a Nissan before and for a car that is only 1400 miles with no function for the blind spots and warning lights on the dashboard makes me think twice about buying another Nissan.

The fact that I have to spend time researching to fix the problem with a brand new car is the worst experience. The dealership is also a horrendous experience. I was sent to the dealership 3 times already and nothing was done.

- My first visit to the dealership was 3 hours and they told me I needed to reschedule and ANOTHER appointment because they needed more time to fix all the warning lights on the dashboard.

- My second trip was even funnier because I scheduled an appointment for the 2 second time and drove all the way to the dealership and only to find out they were full for today and had to reschedule for a 3rd visit. WHAT'S THE POINT IN SCHEDULING FOR AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU CAN'T DO THE WORK!!!

- My third visit was to drop the car off for 6 hours and after 6 hours, I was told that they need more time to diagnose all the warning lights. They need my Z for the ENTIRE DAY for the 4th visit. A 4TH VISIT???!!!! HELL NO!!!

Will try to fix the problems myself.

How can Nissan stay in business for so many years with these horrendous experiences! I will not be buying any more Nissan in the future and will eventually sell the Z.

I’m not sure, but you should be able to clear/reset the fault codes.

Are you talking about clear/reset on the Z? Then the answer is no, it does not do anything when I select the reset option.

Can you clear the warning lights for the ABS warning light, Tire warning light, Engine Light, and Traction Control light with the ZURICH ZR4s? Those are some of the warning lights that are showing on the dashboard right now.

I think there might be some confusion about what these tools do vs what you are expecting.

At best, these tools are only going to read and 'clear' DTC's. If you are looking to do any sort of work beyond simply looking at what DTC's/codes the car might be throwing, you aren't going to find much to help you, at least with those.

The majority of OBD-II readers you are going to come across are going to do just that, read and allow you to clear whatever codes it can find. If your car isn't throwing any codes (which may or may not be the case with the problem you are having), you won't see them on that reader. Note that 'clearing' a code doesn't mean fixing it in this sense. It just removes that stored code if its being thrown and if the reader can pick it up, if its a continuous problem, it can come right back, sometimes near instantaneously.

Many manufacturers have their own specific codes that you need a supported reader to interpret - a cheaper generic reader like that in some cases might just pick up and throw a generic code in its place and not a manufacturer specific one if that is even the case.

To do any real diagnostic and troubleshooting work you are going to need a subscription to Consult-III and a compatible interface, and thats expensive. Your best bet is to take it back to the dealer if its under warranty, or a different dealer, not all service departments are equal.

If you *really* want to do the work yourself, you can buy a Consult subscription for a short term, but the communication interface will still run you a pretty hefty amount.

Dealers can be hit/miss - Nissan service advisors are used to dealing with (for lack of a better word) shitboxes (versas, sentras, etc.) So I think there isn't really a lot of emphasis placed on customer experience that you would expect at a place like Porsche (Even Toyota took way better care of me with my Supra, that I do miss.)
