A couple, maybe three, years ago I almost pulled the trigger on an Anniversary Z. I had just sold my ‘17 Camaro SS 1LE and thought a Z might be fun even if a bit more low key. Then, did some research and learned of the “400 Z”. Looked cool so, why not wait a bit?

As we all know, the “400 Z” became simply the new Z, priced in the $30-40 k range. OK, when can I get one…?

Finally, a day or so ago, a Performance spec was delivered to the local dealer. Sticker was $54+, asking $68+. That’s just silly but I must admit I’m not a diehard Z freak but seriously, that kind of money for a car that is essentially a refresh of decades old tech? No thanks.

Found a 2019 Vette Grand Sport, 6k miles at $61k.

People are paying dealer markups for new Z's? Weird..I was a little miffed that I ended up paying sticker.

Plenty of Z at sticker now, sport is a pretty good value for the money.

Great choice on the C7 GS for $7k less, that's a no brainer!

IMHO the Z doesn't have enough performance to command that $60k+ price tag. (the ADM is because of availability not performance)

In all probability, I'm going to end up in a CPO Zupra precisely because of the absurd scarcity of the new Zed. It's a sick, sad world out there.

I have sold all 3 I had at my dealership at sticker. Well, 2 of 3. I bought one. Shhh....I have one more Nismo due in early Feb. MSRP should be 69ish. No markup.

Are we going to see any discounts on Nismo? How about a manual transmission from Nissan?

Nismo at $69k is certainly doable.
If you want it or know anyone who does...I am in the Nashville area. The January one is spoken for at the moment.

Did you make an offer? I'm surprised how many people don't even try to offer. Dealers are souless and of course will put a stupid price to see what schmuck will bite at 15k. I've also seen quite a few owners now who have made offers that dealers accepted, including me who got mine down from 20k over. Always worth a try

Nope. Don’t want one bad enough to pay too much. To me, MSRP is too much.

The cars I’ve spec’d and ordered over the years I’ve still managed discounts on. My last Camaro SS 1LE the dealer got greedy when I went to pick it up. Walked away. Next day I had a TrueCar offer in hand for the car I ordered, $2300 under.

As regards Z availability, I ain’t buyin the “chip shortage, supplier issues” excuses. That said it is a mystery why they would curtail supply.
But they are. Something like 406 available in the US today. Somehow Corvette manages to have over 1900 available. That’s a good thing, maybe now cheap bastards like me can get one.

If you get a manual passion red sport or performance let me know. Would tempted for an orange, but want a passion red.
