It's time to tackle the suspension and I'm stuck between the HKS Hipermax S, the Ohlins DFV, and some custom Fortune 500 series. Is anyone on here running the HKS coilovers? If so, what is your opinion? How much did you lower it? How does it ride compared to stock? Where do you have your compression/rebound set? Would you do it again, or try something else?

I have the HKS type S and I've been very happy with them. I'm at the HKS recommended drop in the front (~1 inch) and slightly less int he back (I'm guessing ~.75).

The ride is stiff compared to stock but not harsh; It's exactly what I wanted the car to be from the factory. I haven't tried lowering the damping yet because I like how it rides. It was jarring for about a day going from the stock Lexus-quality ride to the HKS but you get used to it fast and it feels so much more controlled and composed. EVERYTHING feels sharper and better imho.

I'm at 15 clicks (HKS recommended setting) in front and 17 in rear (2 clicks softer than HKS recommended)

It's worth noting that HKS discontinued the model I have and is releasing a new model for the RZ34. Same spring rates but slight damping adjustments it looks like(mildly softer rebound front and rear, and slightly softer compression rear).

If anyone knows anything else about this change I'd love to hear it.

Also, fwiw, I bough mine from Japan used on yahoo auctions Japan for ~1600 US before shipping and tarrifs.

Thanks. That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for!

I had the R's but they were too harsh. It's much less hassle to go with a true coil in the rear than doing lowered with divorced and adjustable mid links.
