No but another dealer did mention that they'd be doing a driveaway price offer on launch, I asked this guy about it and he said he can't confirm or deny lol.
So more of the same…that being absolutely nothing??

on a serious note did he have your order in already?
After a year of waiting if my dealer called me to say I could make an order I’d lose the plot at him.

Wish pricing would be released we are in April after all. What does “driveaway price“ even mean…..are not all prices drive away, didn’t think they would let you buy without rego and on road taxes, which is usually the drive away part of the price …

Personally I’m not expecting they’ve actually got an order in the system. I remember talking to a large Melbourne dealer about it pretty early on and he said it’s basically meaningless. I just threw a deposit down in the hope they call me first, but I don’t think anything is actually official until the car is released with pricing in Aus then an order is subsequently placed.

I’m also pretty cynical re salesmen after just going through buying a house…the amount of bs that people are willing to feed you!

The driveway thing…I can’t remember exactly but I do think there are some regs in Aus that already mean prices are somewhat driveaway. Maybe what he meant is that Nissan Aus would have a flat price nation wide. He said the intent was to stop the price getting inflated.

I feel the same…but then they get my hopes up.
why double check orders if they are not going to at least try to distribute as requested? Especially as it came from Corperate to do so. You would also have to think that the Protos would be allocated as per people who have orders in ( not that I’m getting protocols version)

But like you, I think they will get an allocation and that will be it, at least at first.

Then I start to wonder, I am listed first at my dealer, but what if they don’t get a yellow? Do I get my choice of what they do get, or do they give the cars to those who have requested the colour they did get…in which case I would be annoyed, because although my first choice is yellow, I would consider blue, or red

Time will tell I supposed but I would hope that first non proto orders would be given first choice if they can’t deliver onwhat was asked for

Here's hoping that what he means by driveaway price offer at launch is the same as what Toyota did with the GR Yaris and the follow up Rallye Edition!

https://www.chasingcars.com.au/news...aris-priced-at-39950-driveaway-for-australia/
https://www.chasingcars.com.au/news...arper-handling-promotional-driveaway-pricing/

The initial GR Yaris was priced at $39950 driveaway for the first 1000 orders and then went up in price by about $10k after that first 1000 were gone.

They then did a similar thing for the Rallye Edition for the first 200 orders it was $56400 driveaway and then went up by about $4k after that.

Doubtful that this would happen for the Z, but it would be awesome if it launched at a $10k discount in price! This is of course only if I get it at that price though, if not then it is a dumb idea ?

One can dream lol.

Yeah I got the impression they were planning a similar style of launch to what you mentioned with the Yaris.

You could always ask them if they'll knock $5k off the price if you drive it around with dealer signage all over it for a year. ;)

Called my dealer to see if they had any updates this afternoon, the response I got was a bit of a surprise. He basically said that my pre-order was amongst the next three orders from them to Nissan and then onto production in Japan. I then asked so what about the allocation of cars to pre-orders as I thought that if there were not enough cars to go around I would have to wait for the next shipment, again he said my pre-order was going to progress to an actual order and they were aiming for an October delivery. He also stated that if circumstances change and I do not want the car it would not be a problem as they would easily sell it. No indication of price though, but still if this is true I cant wait for October to come around

Nissan also offer a loyalty discount, I got a few hundred off when I bought my Qashqai because I owned a 370z

If either of these two bits of info are correct it will be amazing.

The discount would be fab, but would they really do that when they already have orders in? ( especially as I’ve had mine in so long) I hope so, but to me it doesn’t make good business sense.

As to orders translating into actual orders, it’s something I’ve always hoped for, like I said…what’s the point of confirming what people actually want if they were not gonna follow through. Otherwise they might as well just allocate what they have, and dealers work of their list to offer what’s on hand….but I thought I was dreaming too high.

Only disappointing part of the information you were given was October delivery…Nissan Corps said late June early July, another three months of waiting on top of that is gonna kill me.

if there are any early shipments though, hope mines on it, after all I ordered a full year ago, I’ve been tempted to waiver and buy a MX-5, but I’ve stayed strong.

I hope you are both right

Here's hoping that this speculation turns out to be true!

If my Proto comes in the high $60k's, low $70k's I will be very happy.

Still frustrating to not have a definitive answer by now.

I also really want to know how many Proto's they are bringing to our market!
definitely be a buyer at these prices

Purely speculation at this point. I cant see them coming in anything under $75k on road, keeping in mind that we wont get the base model
