Same with me have a signed contract and also watched dealer enter the details on computer in his office, contracts that I have were made up against the 370z convertible just to get them into the system, then notes added that the order was for a new Z. As new Z was not in the system they had to raise the order against something that was, perhaps now it is there and thats why they are doing updates.
Would be really funny if a 370Z convertible turned up
Mine was against a 370 nismo. This was about a month ago, haven't heard anything since.

I reached out to my dealer after seeing some people on here had some news from theirs. He said Nissan had advised them the first batch of Z's would be arriving "around July"

Yep..sounds like what I was told…my only concern is that some people are getting follow up calls from their dealers to make sure the order is correct….but mine hasn’t done that. ?

Surely if it’s July there has to be a price released soon

Hi guys,
I would like to introduce myself.

Im theBird. Im a 40 year old male who lives in Geraldton, WA. I have always had a fascination with the Z cars and I am seriously considering picking myself up one of these beauties. I will probably wait for the late 2023 or 2024 version.

I have never spent much money on my cars, as I have taken the "most millionaires drive Toyotas" approach to my finances. I have been driving a Ford Focus since 2006 which I had purchased with cash. I think I deserve an upgrade.

Welcome! Definitely time to spoil yourself, you deserve an upgrade. Life is too short to drive boring cars and you cant take your money with you when you go

Nice!
yes I think you deserve it, also nice to see another Aussie on the page.

In an update of my circumstances…after being a bit frustrated that I hadn’t heard from the dealer checking on specs whilst others were, I once again made the trek into the dealer.
I asked to see my guy, who was also not there last week, they told me…he’s not allowed to come to work, he’s sick and has to quarantine ( covid) which explains why he wasn’t answering my emails coz up until now he has been pretty good.
However what was disappointing is that the dealership had been asked to contact people with orders in and check their specs and that their contact details were correct ….guess what no one did his???

But in good news my order has been put through regardless and thank god I wrote my contact details down correctly.

They said I could swap my order from performance to Proto, but that it would most likely put me to the back of the line., as my order had been with Nissan since first week of April last year when I paid the deposit (this was from the lady who is in charge of entering all the orders in the system)

In all honesty it’s probably a good thing, because I’m not going to like the price of the Proto (my husband definetly won’t) and for the few small differences I’m not really bothered ( except for the stitching…that’s pretty) .

They did say the guy that was in front of me, gave up …so now I’m first in their system, so I better get what I asked for.
No further details when I pushed on price they said they are basically guessing (phew hopefully that 89k never comes to fruition) because Nissan hasn’t told them anything

Got chatting and the guy that was there said that he believed they wanted details correct as they may start emailing out updates as a group to those who have early orders, in particular what the models will actually have on them come delivery etc etc.
I hope this will be the case as the worst part of this wait is not the delayed timeline but the lack of or conflicting information

I don’t know this is a roller coaster, one day excitement the next disappointment…I don’t think I’ve waiting for anything this long in my life, even my kids only took nine months to make ??

Spoke to my dealer today and he gave me the same timeframe indication.
He mentioned that they reconfirmed all of their pre-orders with Nissan Aus last week, including pre-order date and how much deposit was put down.

P.S this kinda makes sense.

Dint know what deposit amount would have to do with it…I get asking if a deposit was made, so they know if buyers are serious but amount should have little to do with it.
Mine was 4K for a non proto, probably one of the higher ones …but I still don’t think that should matter, as people only paid what dealers asked?‍♀

Yeah not sure, my deposit was 5k, so I'm on board if they want to prio allocation by deposit lol. He did mention some other things that contradict info i've seen on here from other dealers, so who really knows whats going on. Im not personally in any kind of rush for the car, i'd be happy any time before the end of the year.

I wonder if this will have an impact on the Z.

https://www.carsales.com.au/editori...-even-longer-after-japanese-earthquake-134758

I am still a bit sceptical about the time frame of July for the Z.

There still hasn't even been any first drives and these normally occur before pricing is announced.

Take the BRZ for example there was a first drive nearly a year before the pricing was announced.

Even normal first drives were about 2 months before pricing and the pricing was announced about 4 months before release. So it was around 7-8 months from the majority of first drives to when the car was actually available and Nissan is going to do all this in 3 months for the Z?

Maybe as what has sort of been eluded to is that the Proto's will be released first as there is a limited number of them so easier to account for and they are all built the same ie colour, interior, wheels etc so no randomised custom specs to deal with.

Even then it is still a ridiculous time frame to try and launch a car.

How would making them all the same make any difference to everything you have given to not release it?
No drives, is no drives.
Announcing pricing takes two seconds

As to the earthquake, that was on another thread, no one sees it as much of an issue, Nissan is already up and Running, two of the three chip manufacturers had power running and might take a couple of days to get back running

I don’t see why Nissan Aus would tell dealers July and ask for all orders to be finalised, if they are not getting ready…especially as everyone thought the timeline would be closer to Sept

Im happy that dealers from different states are backing what I heard…it means its been communicated to them, so for now I’m going to trust them

Hi All, just sold my 2012 370Z, it was a hard decision to make as the car was immaculate, not one stonechip or scratch, had only used it as a weekend car for the last two years. I thought good time to sell as there may be more of these on the market when the new Z finally arrives, good thing is that only have to put in about half the money for the new z

Congratulations and commiserations at the same time

Lets now hope that the cars arrive as planned, I sold my Peugeot RCZ Type R in October last year when estimates for the new Z was a Feb arrival …

Money is sitting in the bank waiting, which is good in one respect but if I get covid and have to take a week off you won’t get the $350 government pay out because you now have over 10k sitting in your bank ??‍♀

Things do seem to be heading in the right direction…let’s hope we hear something solid (in writing) soon
