I was considering having a new car delivered to me however I just read through a few of the big names auto movers yelp reviews and i got repulsed. I am very tempted still however, Im wondering if I contact a local private auto moving company, is this still very risky? I have no experiance in doing this, Id love some advice on the matter or I can pay more for the same 2025 locally. One thing i cant do is check the car for scratches, however im mostly worried about it getting here with a dent or worse from the stories Ive read. Thank you for reading.

Ask the dealer for recommendations. How far is it?

Any form of auto transportation is taking a risk. I've shipped a few cars cross country and the thing most people don't realize is when you contact a 'shipping company' you are really talking to a broker and not the actual transporter.

Brokers are the forced middlemen that take your order and throw it up on a loadboard for the lowest price they can to get a driver to bite and pickup the order. The problem with this is you end up with a lot of no/little experienced drivers.

I've had a driver show up that couldn't drive a manual transmission, and tried unsuccessfully to load the car up on the trailer, only to give up, say they would "be back" (I had written them off at that point anyway) and just never returned (which worked out for the best in that situation.)

Other times I've had one guy with a dodge ram and a single car hauler show up, you just never know who or what you are going to get, if they have any experience at all, or how they're going to treat your car, it's a crapshoot.

Now, that said, an easier way to weed out a lot of the transporters potentially picking up your car that you don't want picking up your car is to specify you want enclosed transportation (which, on a car this new, you honestly should be getting anyway.)

In my experience, most of the drivers with enclosed cars are used to handling high value cars as it is, so getting someone that doesn't care will be less likely. That, and the inexperienced drivers that likely wouldn't care likely can't afford an enclosed trailer and won't have one as a result.

Not a solid guarantee, but an easy way to tip the scales in your favor. You'll pay more for an enclosed carrier, but its worth it.

Fly there and get it.

FYSA, Rt 46 Nissan in Towtowa was greasy, typical $#!+ dealer. However, my 2024 was $2200 below MSRP last year while others were still trying to charge a premium.

I had a car shipped across the country a few years ago. It was with one of the big moving companies. (sorry I can't remember which one) The only hitch was the company insisted it be empty of gas. I ignored this requirement which was a relief to the guys to showed up as they had to drive it onto the truck. They covered it with moving blankets. It took a little while because the back of the truck was filled with someone else's household move. But it arrived undamaged.

Totally agree with NocturnalEmber. Just shipped my 95 to Atlanta from Ohio and back, insisted on an enclosed trailer, all went well. He showed up also hauling a restored Caddy and said that this is the kind of stuff he usually hauls. Would do it again.

I have , im waiting on the response. Over 1000 miles, I dont not want to drive it back or travel there. I can almost expect a few minor scratches since it been at the dealership for so long, however 1 single opps from the transport and my " savings" are gone, its risky knowing that most of these drivers are stressed and underpayed, and rightfully, dont give a FFFFF about your new car.

Oh my. Your concerns are valid. risk vs reward. nothing ventured, nothing gained. i would assume the worst just happened. would you still be happy because of the savings. Or kicking your self… wishing you would have just purchased local.

How good is the savings vs local? I’m assuming shipping cost is $2-3k w/ insurance.

What is the assembly date & how many miles on it?

I would recommend having the dealer to turn off the Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) feature before shipping.

its a 24 and the saving for the identical 25 would be about 7000, Im waiting for what the dealer says but yea you get the idea exactly!!! Unless the dealer can give me some special reassurances I just cant trust a broker and just any driver, i literally have a G in my driveway with the bumper hanging off because of a flatbed driver. If the dealers cant offer me special delivery with some kind of insurance, I just cant do it, and I dont want to make the trek, worse case, I get to say I have a 25.

What difference does turning off ASE make ? Louder/quieter ?

Eliminates fake engine sounds and it’s insane with exhaust mods. There is also a ANC feature that some folks are also turning off. It takes a nissan service shop about 5min to connect laptop to car and disable.

what‘s the assembly date & mileage? If it was assembled in ‘23, that will soon be a 3yr old.

<5k more for a ‘25 built in ‘25 w/ new smell and 6 miles on the clock and you get to look at it before buying it.

Yes I think I wont take any chances, its a damn shame auto transport is what it is.... But Im a tall one so I really need to test drive the car. Also, i guess there COULD be something wrong ( minor) with the other one that has been on the floor for that long, however id say the reason is because its an auto, and yea, I need an automatic.

Is there anything else I need to tell or ask the dealer besides to disable ASE?
