Do you think Nissan is overhyping the car's reveal?

Don't get me wrong. I want the car to look exactly like the proto, because it really looks great, but if the car is supposed to be 99% like the proto, why hype a big reveal when the public has already known what the car is for an extended period of time? Is it me, or does this have the makings of an anticlimax where the marching band comes in, we get exactly what's expected, and then we're left disappointed because we inevitably expected more based on Nissan hyping it with all of their dumb recycled teasers?

I feel like the only way Nissan could avoid something like that is to reveal something pretty awesome, like we can all get one sooner than we suspected. In which case, the reveal will meet the hype. What do you think Nissan will need to do to meet the hype?

I don’t think they are overhyping it for the general car buyer. Nissan needs to change their image as a budget brand for people with low credit. The Z is a flashy way of saying we’re headed in a new direction. Come check us out.

Now for us obsessives who spend time on online car forums, there’s a chance of a let down. That’s really our faults for looking at clues into every single word someone writes about the Z or zooming in on proto pics. We are the ones who provided ourselves with too many answers too early. Haha

I don't think they are overhyping it. We have to remember that we members on this board are not the general public. We follow every single thing about this vehicle, whereas the general public does not and needs to be made aware of it.

Maybe I'm off-base, but I don't think the general public gives a damn about niche cars like the Z, but that is a good point about trying to make the brand itself attractive.

the ads being shown are for the public who dont know a thing about sports cars. it's simply to be exciting to persuade the everyday normal buyer.

for us the enthusiast, types, they know we love the car. they know we are the ones buying the car. we should get some attention and love but end of the day their goal is the sales of the normal cars keeping their lights on.

I'm going to be very disappointed if there are markups and might hold off until they stop.

I dont think its overhyping at all... its not like Nissan showed off a super cool full size concept car to only unveil a rebadge SLK 5 yrs later :p
Seriously, we're getting an in house Z at an affordable price and people are complaining about lame ads and teasers. #firstworldproblems

I'm not complaining about it as much as I'm trying to make sense of it.
