Heya everyone, thought I'd post a quick sound comparison of a custom 3.5" cat-back vs stock (both 6MT).

It's currently cat-back, but we are deleting the secondary cats next week. I'm doing this in stages to test both sound and dyno numbers. I'm very much looking for a good quality sound over straight up performance, and we played with a few different configurations before settling on what you see in the vid.

All up this cost me less than what I would have paid at Borla / AMS / Z1 et al, mainly because of the Australia tax on shipping. Again, take all of this with a grain of salt - not trying to persuade anyone, just my own personal musings.

(Apologies in advance for the Insta-spamming - I'm not trying to get famous 🙃, just don't want to add these to my personal YouTube account...).

Thanks mate! Appreciate the positive support :)

I'll post up some more when the sans-cats and see if I destroy all the time and energy that's gone into it so far 🤣
Would also love to hear it with the valve closed, if possible!

I didn't actually get a shot of where it is at currently... Know that sounds odd, but we did a heap of test fits, different pipe routing and about 4 mufflers. When it came down from the hoist we weren't sure if this would be the one...

I'm hoping to have it back to them late this week or next for downpipe fitting, so will shoot it then.

It sounds really good, did you wind up using mufflers made in-house or name brand?

I actually had to check because I lost track of all the changes 🙃

We did try a custom made one, and also a couple of other pre-fab brands. This (final) one was a happy coincidence though. We just thought 'lets just see how big we can go in this space' and grabbed a Hurricane muffler they had handy. It fit perfectly, pretty much fills the space.

I am not 100% sure of the model, but will find out. I'm sure he said they usually fit them to Navaras or utes (trucks) or something. They have an additional anti-drone chamber built in, but are also very open free-flowing.

Below shot of one of the mockups we did in testing (pre-valve)
