The 84month Nissan battery went dead over the weekend and after charging it the Check Engine light is on. Car only has about 2,500 miles. Any way to turn out that Check Engine light or do i need to go to dealer? My Nissan app says it's something related to the emissions control

Do you have a catch can? What mods so you have. Do you have a code reader?

No code reader and no mods. I read somewhere that it might go out after 30 minutes of driving. I drive it maybe 3 days a week

Is the battery under warranty from Nissan? If so, I’d take it to them. Shouldn’t go dead after 2500 miles if you’re driving it weekly. Curious if you have a parasitic draw somewhere…which should be a warranty thing as well, especially since you don’t have any mods.

is the charger old or new?
Did you unhook the battery when charging?
if it’s a relatively new and quality charger there’s very little chance it would foul anything up charging it in circuit (still connected to the car). If it’s old and worn out it could be sending too much voltage through which could mess stuff up. Not saying that happened, but it’s a remote possibility.

No clue if this will help, but it couldn't hurt.
I’d disconnect the neg battery terminal and let it sit for a while, then reconnect, start and drive a few miles. Sort of a reboot, so to speak.

I was told no matter the time the battery was manufactured, all batteries leaving plant will not perform the same. This was by an Autozone employee. Could be a dud.

Stock Nissan / Renault batteries are junk. I know some people will say car battery brands don't matter but that is not my experience.

Thanks for the tips, I drove car a little more this evening and light went out. I only put about 20 miles a week on it maybe I’m not driving it enough. If it goes dead again I’ll take it to the dealer.

When you buy a car, the batteries that come with the car are complete garbage I don’t care what manufacturer you have bought the car from whether it’s a Nissan Mazda, etc. they’re all garbage. I would recommend replacing it while doing so your light will go off and see if it comes back.. treat the battery like you do oil. The manufacturer gives you a battery manufacturer gives you oil doesn’t always mean it’s the right battery doesn’t always mean it’s the right oil so change it..
