I’ve noticed during my daily drive through town it’s staying in 3rd longer than normal. Light to light, normal throttle and AT in standard or normal (whatever the default is called). Just driving leisurely, it typically upshifts at about 2k. It hits 3rd at about 15 mph, and drops to maybe 1250, idk. Throttle position unchanged, it sometimes stays in 3rd past 3k, then shifts to 4th and immediately 1 Sec or less later shifts to 5th, like 33mph.

I just realized I haven’t tried to replicate it in Sport or Sport+. Shift points would probably be different, but would still know if it was happening.

Hoping it’s the legion of sensors talking and occasionally acting weird based on an odd combo of throttle position vs rpm vs rectal temp…whatever the hell it’s monitoring.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is this within the realm of normal function, or is it an indication that something is wrong and could get worse?

I think thats normal. The tuning on these transmissions for daily driving is just plain bad, I swear I cant wait for a TCU tune to be out already because I feel like the car i just eager to upshift for no apparent reason.

I know what you mean. I've noticed this transmission has a mind of its own, not in a bad way, it's not real predictable except when under WOT. I kind of like it, feels like my 1972 Firebird back in the day. Everything about this car feels old school sports car. I love the occasional hard downshifts when driving like a grandma in heavy traffic, feels good. I've learned to just grin and let it do its thing.

It likes to upshift alot on mine. If i go half throttle to overtake, it downshifts as usual, and then when I lessen throttle but then try going back on the gas, I find myself somehow already in 9th gear. If i floor it and let off the throttle it instantly upshifts to the overdrive gears instead of maintaining or at least keeping it in gear for a brief moment to allow me to continue. It takes more throttle than necessary for it to downshift so i can overtake but never maintains those gears consistently. Its like its tuned just to maintain good fuel economy. If i put it in sport mode, that same charactersitic is there but the tuning adapts quicker to your driving, however I find sometimes it also does the complete opposite and starts downshifting aggressively when i gently slow down for something like a speed bump in this mode. Also, in auto it short shifts at 6.5k rpm for me and never really revs out fully and in manual mode it requires some load from the gas pedal for the shifts to be crisp, otherwise the shift is very sluggish like it takes a whole second to react. I just think its a good trans with weird tuning from Nissan, its honestly good ok the track where youre giving maximum load and in manual mode. Other than that, it needs a tune.
