So I have a C63 M177 with the AMG Speedshift version of the Mercedes 9 speed AT and going back-to-back with the 2023 Z, the AMG version definitely shifts faster and feels more brutal. The main difference between the two transmissions is apparently the wet clutch in the AMG. Does anyone have any insight as to why Jatco doesn’t use the AMG variant in the Z instead of the regular Mercedes version? I assume AMG won’t license it but then I see Aston Martin using it…it would make a big difference….

Could be the license but also the JATCO version isn't a dedicated sports car transmission. Nissan uses it in the titan and frontier I'm wondering if that has something to do with it?

Yah good point, it’s Nissan’s general purpose AT no matter the vehicle type. And the volume of the Z is so low that licensing the AMG version likely doesn’t make economic sense unless they could use in some other vehicles (ditch all CVTs for this ?). But it would it make a hell of a difference in performance feel and likely shave some times off the 0-60 sprint and 1/4 dash…also, this thing clearly needs new tires as many have noted…I’m gonna try PS4S and see how the car feels without spinning in the first 3 gears…

Nissan also has a 9 speed by ZF they use in the pathfinder.
