Congrats!

I look at it this way. If I want it and it’s in my budget, I’m not worried about how much I paid, I’ll pay what it’s worth to me. And I definitely don’t get all stressed out wondering how much money a business made on the product. Business is in business to make money and more power to them.

Just finished detailing with CERAKOTE ($17). The ResistAll was definitely not applied nor any clear paint protection film. There was zero water beading after washing. I never seen a new paint not to bead water. There was tons of glue left behind from the factory shipping protection film.

So a little puzzled of why the ResistAll decal was applied to the driver side window.

the only dealer add-ons appear to be wheel locks & window tint (doors only) maybe ~$100 at the most.

it looks like resistall may have been applied after all. I was looking through the dealership paperwork and found a 5 year resistall warranty for the interior and exterior..

to my surprise sealants like resistall may not bead water. Nothing special about resistall - it’s just another cheap sealant with a warranty.

I’m surprised to learn the application process. assuming the paint is free of contaminates, the process is wash & rinse the car and with the car still wet spray the resistall sealant on the entire vehicle, rinse & dry. Then hand buff. That‘s a 30min job requiring zero skill to apply. Dealerships must be making a killing.

So for my car the idiot (probably the high school kid that washes the cars) did not remove all the adhesive from the shipping protection film before applying the resistall. Can not see it unless you look for it.

Question for everyone... I just reached 2000 Km, the break in period (about 1400 miles) and asked the service guys at the dealer about doing an oil change. They said it wasn't necessary and to stick to the schedule, which is about 8000 Km or 5000 miles. I see a lot of chatter in the forums about doing one at the end of break in, and I understand the benefits, just wondering what the perspective is out in the field.

Change at break in, yes or no?

My opinion, the factory schedule is fine. I do my own maintenance so I did it at 1,200 miles just for the heck of it and I was installing the aluminum under shroud anyway.

I would change it. It’s such a low cost that it‘s a no brainer.

will it matter? maybe - maybe not.

My logic is there is a break-in period. The initial wear Is higher than after the brake-in period. You are knocking the burrs off the crank shaft’s rod bearing journals, seating components, etc.. it‘s good to get this “dirt” out of the engine with a fresh oil change.

The dealer must give you the book answer which is driven by competition / tree huggers / EPA.

Do you use the Nissan connect app? It knows my driving style on the z and literally recommends I do an oil change at 10,000 miles lolol. If i drive it aggressively it switches back to 5000 But i‘m just playing their game since I could always blame the app if warranty issues come up with my z, its dumb but still I know not everyone world wide has access to the app

I do use the app, I love the valet feature when we are doing a weekend trip. I have had it 11 months and I'm only at 3333 miles. It's recommending an oil change at my one year purchase anniversary so with my mileage habits I think it's going to say once a year. I'll probably do it every 5k, maybe sooner just because I love spending time with it lol.
