I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue. When I accelerate hard and the engine hits about 3-4k revs, I hear a loud whining noise from the engine bay. I haven't pinpointed it yet and was hoping someone else had this problem and could help me get started. The only thing I have done to the car is add the Mishimoto oil can kit. Appreciate any help

Has it always done it or recently started? Could just be turbo induction noise. Turbo engines are much more eventful than N/A.

I feel like it started after I put the catch can on. It actually sounds like a bearing that is going bad. I am afraid to take it to the dealership because of the catch can. They may say I am out of warranty because of the catch can.

They oftentimes create more problems than they solve based on my testing.... Leave it installed but put the lines back to stock to see if anything changes and go from there. If you removed the intercooler, you could have a massive boost leak if not reinstalled properly.

Are you down on boost? If the catch can line or the catch cans o-ring is not sealed then you could have a boost leak. If the sound wasn’t there before the catch can then that is more than likely the issue. A catch can setup has to be completely air tight.

PS. A catch can won’t void a warranty. However if you take it in and the issue IS the catch can setup itself then this particular issue wouldn’t be covered under warranty.

Any chance the noise is gear related? I test drove a 24 Z that had unreal gear noise when pulling hard in either 3rd or 4th gear. I’m convinced it was the gearbox. This was on a low mileage car too <20k miles.
