Hello! My name is Jaxson. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I’m 23 years old and an aspiring drift champion.
Coming from a 2014 Ford Mustang 3.7L V6, this car feels like a fighter jet. I’m very blessed to have it, and I hope to take care of it for as long as possible.
Current mileage: 15k
Mileage when purchased: 6.8k
Modifications
My Gripes:
1. The stock suspension doesn’t feel planted at higher speeds (70+ mph).
The coilovers helped a lot, but I think I’m having more of a grip issue now. I’m currently on the stock 18x9 wheels with 245/45R18 tires. I plan on upgrading to 19x9.5 wheels with 255/40R19 tires, so I’m hoping that helps.
2. The stock fitment is pretty bad.
The wheels sat pretty far inside the fenders from the factory, especially in the rear. The 20mm spacers helped tremendously and gave the car a much better stance, but I still think the stock wheel setup looks a little underwhelming for a car with such wide body lines. This is another reason I’m planning to move to 19x9.5 wheels.
3. My brakes squeal, but only after spirited driving.
I’m new to the car scene, so forgive my ignorance, but I remember reading somewhere that new rotors have a break-in period. Maybe the previous owner didn’t break them in properly? I’m not sure.
4. The speakers are a little disappointing.
Not disappointing enough to justify upgrading them, though.
5. The backup camera quality is disappointing.
A friend of mine asked me, “Why does it look like a ’90s camera?’
I responded, “At the end of the day, it’s still a Nissan.”
6. The throttle input feels very different from my old Mustang.
I’m not sure why, but I catch myself making micro-adjustments while pressing the accelerator pedal. The car doesn’t like that at all. It rewards confidence, not passivity. Definitely user error on my part, and something I’m still learning.
All in all, I’m very grateful to have this car, and I’m glad to be a part of the community!
