They seem to have gotten the engine choice right. Now just give it an aggressive tune, dont screw up the design, price and timing and I may just hold off on my next car purchase long enough to own one.
Thanks for thinking to even ask the questions in the first place. And welcome to the group of early settlers here :)

400+ HP is definitely possible now that they released specs on the Q60 engine. But you think the Z coming before the Q60 and as early as next year? Only reason I'm...
The green one is for sure just a rendering but I love it. Looks great with the new Maxima style lights and front end paired with the GT-R esque roofline.
Really wonder which model Mustang the Z35 will compete with -- the ecoboost 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, of V8 GT. No way the Z gets a V8 but would be interesting to see if come in two different models to take on the 4 and 6 cylinder Mustangs.
Hopefully what they incorporate from the idx is the size and weight. We could really use a slimmed down and nimbler Z car. It likely wont be competing on power but it can still be a corner carver.
At least they haven't said they're also abandoning the Z and just having the GT-R in the lineup, or it'd start to look like the company was going the way of Toyota and Honda, companies which used to have great sports car lineups but all but abandoned them to make mass selling appliances on wheels.
I don't see the next gen Z competing with the 5.0 Mustang in power. Hopefully it comes close though, around the 400hp mark I would be happy with. Hopefully much lighter than the 3800 pound mustang too. That thing is a cow.
I dunno how likely it would be but I'd love to see multiple versions/models like the Mustang and Camaro have.
1) a model with tweaked version of the 3.7L VQ V6
2) a lower model with a turbo 4 2.5L
Why not capture as many buyers as possible by offering different price and performance levels.
Should add the performance specs too. Of course the mustang/camaro are hard to compete with when you look at those but man they are just too porky. Look at the weights!
I'm hoping they drop enough weight and size to just call it a 240z but please please don't bastardize the name by just putting out another 370z porker and using the 240z to try to sell it as a return to roots kinda thing.
What's sad is that the Nissan head designer guy said in the Jay Leno video that we would see something Z related in 2013 and then it didn't happen in 2014 either. Wonder if there's some redesigning going on inside Nissan for the car.
