  1. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

I understand your experience may suggest otherwise, but in the case of Nissan, this is 100% objectively incorrect. Good luck to you.
  2. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

Looks like it will work, great find! I would recommend using the pinout from the service manual rather than following Metra’s included description, though. Even just within the different Z trim levels the pinout changes, so I can’t imagine it is consistent between different models. I’m sure the...
  3. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

I’m getting the same result. It was working a couple weeks ago when I posted the link. They must have taken it down for some reason. I don’t think this connector is unique to the Z. It’s used in other Nissans based on the limited research I did. For example this one on Amazon looks to be the...
  4. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

Steps 25-27 are the key steps. If you want to run amps/DSP in the Z Sport, you have to pull the head unit to tap into the harness. Performance guys have it much easier; they can just tap in before the Bose amp in the hatch. Anyways, I documented the process of pulling the head unit to help out...
  5. Sport Model: audio solution thread

Pg 1 of this thread has some good info on how to access the rear speakers. To do it “right” you need to get the signal from both rear speakers for a stereo signal. Even below 80Hz there is a lot of stereo information you’ll be missing out on if you only grab the signal from one channel. I would...
  6. Sport Model: audio solution thread

The Sport does not have a separate amp like the Performance; it is integrated into the A/V unit. If all you want is a sub, you could tap into the rear speaker signals to avoid pulling the head unit, but you’ll need a DSP or LOC that can restore the low end of the signal. Even though the factory...
  7. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

Wow, great find! I could have used this a week ago, lol. I see the screw I missed to get the glovebox out. ??‍♂️ Also, looks like you do just pull the A/C vent assembly straight out. Mine was creaking and cracking so much I thought for sure it was going to snap!
  8. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

Here is the link to the one I bought: Link I don’t really trust AliExpress but I was desperate and in a hurry so I chanced it. If you want to try to find something more local, the connector type you’re looking for is an NH18FW-CS2. Make sure you get a harness that’s male on one end and female...
  9. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

That’s right. This prevents the need to cut into the car’s harness.
  10. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

Here is a diagram to explain the wiring harness. Basically, I’m inserting the DSP amp into the signal path between the head unit and the speakers. The dashed lines indicate wiring that I added. Note that I ran completely new wires from the amp to the dash speakers because I no longer wanted them...

Here ya go, Blue! How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)
  12. How To: Removing the Factory Head Unit ('24 Sport)

Writing this up because I haven’t seen it documented anywhere and I had to figure out a lot of it on my own. I definitely made some mistakes, so hopefully someone else can learn from me and do an even better job. Random notes before I dive in: I would only tackle this if you are dead set on...
  13. Sport Model: audio solution thread

So, after all my whining about not being able to find the correct dash speaker harness adapter, it ended up not mattering because I realized that the stock Sport head unit only has a single stereo output for the four front speakers, so to implement a DSP I had to run new wiring for the dash...
  14. Access Headunit

Got it done, just haven’t had time to type it all up with the holiday. Possibly tonight. Spoiler alert: it was a beast. Not for the faint of heart.
  15. Access Headunit

Did you set the GTO jumper inside the unit? I don’t think it’s on by default.
  16. Access Headunit

I’ll be tapping into the front signal behind the head unit. I’m using the D-4.800 as my DSP, so it is an LOC, DSP, and amp combined. I anticipate having to take the console and dash apart to get the head unit out, so I’ll be sure to document that process. Fingers crossed I don’t destroy anything!
  17. Access Headunit

The Sport does not break up the signal. The factory head unit only has a single stereo output for the rear and a single stereo output for the front (the door and dash speakers are bridged on this single output). I am doing a full speaker replacement and DSP install this weekend on a Sport and...
  18. Sport Model: audio solution thread

Alright, after searching for hours, I finally found good info on the dash speaker harness connector. Random Google searching landed me on this OWC connector page here. There is a vehicle list on the page that specifies which vehicles use which harnesses, but it unfortunately only lists the...
  19. Sport Model: audio solution thread

The black plug in pic #1 is the OEM plug that was originally attached to the speaker. I cut it off to make my own sub-harness to install the aftermarket speaker. The white plug in pic #2 is the Red Wolf harness(B08VJ7NZYY), which doesn’t have the four “slots” cutout for the tiny rails of the...
  20. Sport Model: audio solution thread

Sorry for the gap between replies. I got super frustrated and had to walk away for a few days. The B08VJ7NZYY harness did NOT fit my dash plug. The plug on my car's harness has two little rails on either side (see the picture of the OEM speaker female plug below to see what I'm talking about)...
