  1. Using 4 Jack Stands

I made some jackstand pads out of hockey pucks (plenty of hockey pucks around here). I slotted them in a table saw and drilled a hole for neodymium magnets. They slip over the pinch welds at the notched jack points and are magnetically held there, using them as supports for jackstands or a lift...
  2. Is new Z handling THAT BAD?

Yeah, I didn't mean to be "damning with faint praise" in my post above. I've had several Z cars going back 50 years. This Z Performance is the best one yet. I couldn't car less about abusing this Z at the track...it's my daily driver and I just want to have fun on the road. If I wanted to abuse...
  3. Is new Z handling THAT BAD?

If you're expecting an out-of the box track racer, you'll be disappointed (unless you get the Nismo). If you're an average Joe and dont mind adding a set of sway bars...you'll love it.
  4. Black roof/body panel maintenance

Black in particular shows even the most minor swirls in the clearcoat. Probably ceramic coating would work well for as long as it lasts, but likely cheaper to just get a porter cable buffer and buff the black panels once or twice a year, then apply a good wax.
  5. Door unlock button

Was true of both of my 370Z's and is true of my 2024 Z.
  6. Z's in the winter?

    See post above
  7. Z's in the winter?

I can assure you, the tires will not crack if you drive them while the ambient temp is below 40.
  8. New 2024 Z Performance Owner as of last night!

I knew about the two screw-on air dams...had them on my 370Z's... but not about the chin spoiler. My dealer had installed them before I picked up the car, as they should. They did not put the license plate bracket on since they didn't know what I was going to do about that (here, custom plates...
  9. Z's in the winter?

This is Minnesota, and in popular films etc, winters are not exaggerated. Normally my car goes in the storage garage on a Battery Tender with the very first snowflake...usually about mid-November...and doesn't come out until the roads are completely free of snow and ice...usually about...
  10. New 2024 Z Performance Owner as of last night!

The cell phone holder I use is a Satechi. Not sure how your phone works for wireless charging, but current iPhones magnetically mount to the charger, or you can put a steel ring on the case. May not be suitable for an Android phone. It mounts to the air con vent. Very secure, charges great, and...
  11. Unresolved issues prospective buyers should know?

My 2024 Z Performance 9AT model is about a year old and has about 6200 miles. I have no quality issues. The car is tight and rattle-free. No driveline issues. Brakes are superb. Body panel fitment is excellent (the guy that did the clear bra install even commented on that). Nothing going on in...
  12. Selling my unused 2024 Nissan Z Tonneau Cover

Very useful accessory, highly recommended. I continue to use the same tonneau cover I originally purchased for my 2011 370Z. Some say you need to have heaver hatch lift springs, but I haven't found that to be true on my 2011, 2014, nor 2024.
  13. Trickle charger 2023 Z?

Here in Minnesota, I have a large number of seasonal vehicles that require a battery float charger either in summer or winter. I must have 20 of them. I've used simple Battery Tenders for decades and they work great. Most of those vehicles have an attached pigtail just to simplify the...
  14. New 2024 Z Performance Owner as of last night!

Nissan Connect for the Z does not have remote start, but does have remote lock/unlock, lights and horn…as well as location and maintenance. As to the cell phone holder, I didnt want to drill or glue so I use a magnetic holder that hooks into the air vent. It’s also a charger that I power from...
  15. New 2024 Z Performance Owner as of last night!

I have a 2024 Z Performance since September 2023. I've had 9 prior Z's since 1970, including both a 2011 and a 2014 370Z. My observations relative to your questions... this is the best Z yet. It is an absolute blast. I've always been an MT guy, have definitely come to prefer the 9AT buy a...
  16. 93 vs 91

Yeah, around here, every gas station and convenience store has 91 octane and most have 91 octane/no ethanol (boats and snowmobiles). The only place I found 93 octane was at a gas station/convenience store right at the main entrance to Brainerd International Raceway. It was $3.75/gallon, which is...
  17. How to search for a Z

....Yet BUT...Nissan's willingness to discount that deeply is going to depend on their margins. I don't believe for a second that either Ford or the Ford dealer are going to lose a dime on one of those "heavily discounted from grossly inflated" $100,000 pickup trucks. I don't blame Ford or the...
  18. How to search for a Z

Could be worse...you could be a Ford dealer sitting on dozens of F-150's at $100K a pop...
  19. 93 vs 91

Half a tank later...first time driving with 93 octane...noticeable improvement in performance. Not so noticeable in Standard drive mode, but really wakes up in Sport mode. I was on the highway, went to pass a couple of cars and was pretty impressed with the responsiveness to that tap on the...
  20. Playing video from phone on the Z's infotainment screen

Especially a large diverse population with a wide variety of climates, has 3X the population, and has a 250 year-old culture.
