I got pulled over in the Z a couple weeks ago and the cop told me he had a Supra and S2000 during the conversation. When he came up to my window he asked if I knew how fast I was going. When I said no he responded with:

"Oh this car doesn't have a heads up display? The Supra does."

And then proceeded to ask me many times why I didn't buy a Supra instead, lol. I hear it from so many people but, I just prefer this car. It isn't rocket science. I didn't want another BMW, I have an android, and the Z is beautiful compared to the Supra.
As someone who has owned many cars with a HUD... it's kind of cool and it's something a salesman will use to sell someone car. To me, it's not a deal-breaker, not even close. It's a feature you get used to and is actually sometimes annoying so I turned it off at those times. Some people get all giddy about it though.

I am back. I had a 23- Black with Blue guts Performance. Traded it in last year for more that I paid for it after 4K miles! Picked up a White 24 with blue guts Performance manual last week. Love these cars. They have a lot more personality than the stats show! Manual shift is awesome compared to AT.

Welcome back! White + Blue is a good looking combo.

I see we are all of a similar mindset to why we love the Z over the supra. I've been in a supra and was really surprised how little I liked it compared to the Z interior.

Being a RHD market here in Australia I do hate that they didn't make a RHD center console..... but they did the same in the supra and it's even worst because the supra has asymmetrical wings, so it looks like the center is pointed at the passenger.

The main thing i wanted to change on my Z was the exhaust. A car like this needs to make some noise and the factory system is quieter than most "normal" cars.

Hey folks, long time VR30 fan. I was heart-broken when I totaled my Q60 Red Sport. I then thought the next logical step was the R35 GT-R so I hustled my way into a deal on one and ultimately let it go after only 6 months. It was an incredible piece of machinary, just not the right vehicle for me given its general lack of DIY accessibility spanning all major systems.

Finally, I'm back into the VR30 platform via the Z and I've been so dang thrilled with it. I have a 23' perf. in manual. Boulder gray w/ the red interior. The last Z I owned was a 350 that I ended up running the AAM TT kit among other things. Still a beast and runs like a champ.

To date it has:
- KW V3 Coilovers
- Nissan Clubsports19x9.5 & 19x10.5 wrapped in 265/35/19 & 305/30/19 NT555 G2s spaced @ 5mm.
- AMS Heat Exchanger
- Nismo Street Twin Disc Clutch & Flywheel
- TS Compact Dual Port BOVs
- SOHO Catback
- Tuned on EcuTek @ SOHO Motorsports

What a blast these vehicles, glad to be a part of the community and hoping to add what I can as I go while continuing my VR30 journey. I'll get a build thread up, it goes in for PPF next week, I paint corrected it this weekend. Nissan still can't seem to shoot clear but all is forgiven, love the Z and boulder is very full of character once corrected.

Thanks! Regarding max stock sport tire width, I have no idea. At 9' wide though and assuming you were wanting to stick with a square setup, I'd start researching in the 275 with a 30 profile range but I lean more into performance than looks. That's a good bit of tire for AutoX, HPDE and generally taking abuse without inducing anxiety after every bump nor needing to roll fenders assuming offset isn't too extreme. I'm old, I should also mention that : o ). Hope that helps, depending on your goals it might make sense to search things like "275 on 18x9 autox" and you'll not only get a sense of what that might look like but also how it will actually perform.

I actually watched the SOHO's build video of this car like a year ago and still think it's the best build I've seen yet. Love the OEM+ approach.

The Performance and Nismo were too much for an impulse purchase but when I saw it for under 40k I knew it was time to strike.
a few years before the actual launch, a lot of people were drawn to the Z because of the low starting point (30-35k) that was being floated.

when all the crazy price hikes started once they became available in limited numbers, it turned a lot of people off.

sounds like you did great. the ability to build the car up the way you want over time is a wonderful thing.

what are your plans?
