awesome. I’m also considering going with the current gen z4 instead of waiting for the Nismo. After you’ve had a chance to get to know the car a bit, please post your thoughts on your ownership experience!

The reason I got the 2020, was because I would have to wait for 6-8 months for the next Z4 build dates, and whilst they swear their cars ARE coming in as predicted time frames…I’m done with waiting.

The current tech is almost the same as the incoming model, and my blue colour is not available in the new model…although if I had followed through and bought the current model I would have got purple…plus I saved 25k buying the three year old
I did due diligence, checked it wasn’t stolen, written off, had finance or any major accidents. I was able to find out where the original person bought it from, so I called them to make sure servicing had been done and it had been looked after, that any recalls had been completed (they were part of the airbag recall) and there wasn’t any major issues they didn’t fix …it all checked out, plus I have two years left of free servicing. It looks brand new with just one tiny pin prick sized chip on the bonnet.
Only picked it up last night but already am really happy, you can further customise your driving experience, even within the three major areas (sport, comfort, eco), it’s engine can stall at lights and re engage ect saving fuel but you can also override. Super quick take offs (more than enough fun for me) and has every bit of tech you can imagine. Wireless charger, fully electric seats with the ability to set and save for each driver, nice big screen, fantastic sat nav that comes up on both the entertainment and cockpit display, parking assist ( not sure if I’m game to let it park itself yet), as well as sensors front back and sides, brilliant reverse camera, wireless Apple car play, head up display, blind spot monitoring, automatic everything (rain sensors, lights, dimming of mirrors, music turns off on its own when you open the door, headlights etc etc) then the entertainment system…it’s awesome. Fantastic sound (like a home theatre) mirroring of your phone apps, fully customisable. Then the little touches, heated seats, seats that have lumber adjustment that really does support.
Beautiful quality interior and a convertible…what’s not to love.

Well actually there is one thing that’s not to love, and that’s there is no manual version. This was one of the reasons it took me so long to abandon the Z. I love manual driving, it makes me feel connected to the road, but the Z4 does have paddle shifter that I can use if I’m feeling a little lost, and as I mentioned on another post, I have just been diagnosed with carpal tunnel so perhaps an auto is better for me …at least until I have the surgery and recover (which will not be for a few years if I can handle the pain due to my work)

This morning I dropped my youngest off to his refereeing job…he texted me just to say, the car sounds REALLY good Mum, and it does. It’s what the Z should have sounded like out of the factory

Yes it’s three years old, but I think it’s it ranges from equal footing to superior in all areas other than not having a manual option ….and it was 5k less than the Z was going to cost me, with no further mods needed.

I’ve said it before, there are many on the forum that want to track and race the Z, or love modding their cars, or hard core manual drivers …for them the the Z is the better option.
But for everyone else, plus those who love a convertible I’d say the Z4 will make you very happy. And in one positive move, if you bought number plates for the Z, they still work for the Z4 ??

my dealer randomly called me over the weekend, i got good news bad news. my dealership received a z sport according to him a cancelled order, asked if i wanted it i said no thanks.
I also asked him when they received the car it came in 2 days ago, which is i guess "good news" cars are coming in ?
i asked how many more are coming in/being allocated he said this is probably going to be the only 1 for april/may, he said maybe june there will b more with a ?
i'd say check in to your local dealership this upcoming weeks some might be on a train across canada, but dont get your hopes up. i have set a personal deadline for this release and i am not taking anything past june

Ok that is definitely interesting news, means there could be some "rolling into" dealerships "across" canada lol We'll see if a few more start to pop up
