@GeelongCats dont be fooled mate, @West Aussie was so quiet because she was likely waterboarding her salesman! Notice he "left" the yard. Thats not a coincidence mate! Check ya milk bottles next week for a missing person ?

Ha, But in all seriousness, I was told something similar regarding nissan aus handling things. I was told that should I not accept the proto, nissan aus would reclaim it to on-sell; not the dealership.

By the way chaps, got me paperwork....granted it was quite a long half hour, but I've got it! Willy Wonkers golden tickets ain't got shit on this jazz! ?
Does it have a VIN?

I think I badgered my dealer to death…manager seemed up for a chat though

Have also spoken it over with the minister for war and finance and I've made a rational argument that justifies me buying the wrong transmission car; if we don't like, imma wrap it up with aforementioned mothballs and on-sell it at a later stage (hopefully for a gain!) for a manual Nismo or some such limited run model.

Think its a bit of a win-win. I dont think ya can go too wrong with this car as a type of investment. Granted I did want this thing to go the full distance with me, but c'est la vie

Signing contracts for $85,960 (with my deposit applied) for a sight-unseen un-test driven vehicle is pretty full on. He did say there would be no special conditions within the contract allowing test drives or such.

Pretty full on! Get those big boy pants on and sign away! ?

So it was myself and @GeelongCats with new contracts - my documents were the same as yours btw mate - but was there anybody else with a call up and new papers ?

What are people's thoughts on me putting this auto proto away if I cant live with the auto ? Ideally I'd just like to recoup my outlay, but surely it'll work out to be a safe bet providing its kept clean and in good order?

It sounds like you really want the 6sp and are trying to convince yourself that the auto will be OK.
I like west aussie think this will be a drivers car that means 6sp, hence the new supra manual.
Personally I would say no, 90k a lot to spend and not get exactly what you want and now to start to think about putting it away hopping the value will increase in the future.

I really do want the 6sp mate.

I've got the contract still and have sent the email querying the likelihood of a manual but I can almost guarantee the response.

Yeah mate, I think I am just trying to talk myself into it. Is it worth having a proto z for the sake of simply having it despite it being not quite right. It's a tough spot.

Sadly no vin. Has the model detail code, but that's about it.
Call me jaded, but not sure much has changed in terms of a Z showing up in the driveway. I'd take the dealer statements with large grain of salt. Would like to see more solid unambiguous evidence on Nissan side regarding delivery.

Fair outsider perspective, I'm hearing and reading conflicting information.

I do wonder if some dealers when pressed portray best guesses as facts.

I'd just drive it for 12 months, be the envy of everyone around (other new Z owners included) then sell for at least what was paid.

There are people that will pay a premium not to wait, and there be a long line in 12mths

Yeah mate, that's the line of thought I have also. Financially, I'm hoping there's all but bugger all chance of not moving it along for at least what I paid (as you mention) if I can't live with it.

I have no clue as to what occurred to my original order, but I have heard back and it's an auto proto, or no proto.

I signed for it.

Smaller screen, no wireless Android Auto and the wrong damn transmission along with being just shy of $100k. I must be retarded huh.

Not at all…the heart wants what it wants.
I’d say with protos the split was pre determined, and they over subscribed.
At least you know you e got a car.
I’m still waiting an ordered 8 months before you ?
I’m guessing they are organising Protos first

No news about my Proto order (manual).

I'm not sure what I'd do if they offered me Auto or nothing. At least my mrs could drive it I suppose!

Let me tell you mate, its a bloody hard call in my opinion. Before being offered a vehicle, I'd of said 100% deal breaker. The reality of it being a take it or leave it deal definitely pushes a harder choice on you to make. Hopefully you don't have to compromise.

Yeah, protos first would maje sense, but didn't @GeelongCats order black on black manual? He has a contract in place so yeah. It's an odd release schedule.

You can't be too far off hearing. I still don't even know how you could've ordered it That early my dealer had no idea in October let alone months earlier again. Crazy.
