Huh…is that all…GST (General Sales Tax) on a new car in Australis is 10% plus registration fee, plus 33% on every dollar for a car over 67k…plus some other bits…probably comes out as 15-17% overall
So I’ve been talking to a guy who lives in fucking Poland about importing a Z and this guy in just importing and shipping was looking at 40-50k in cost.

Question about dealer trades and ADM and markups.....

Say I go to a dealer who doesn't do ADM or markups, or they have very small markups, and they find the car I want at a nearby dealer that they can do a trade with, but that dealership has big ADM and/or markups, how is that handled? Will the other dealership agree to trade without ADM or markups, or do they add them to the dealership trade?

That situation can go a multitude of different ways. Most of the time the dealer will just not trade at all. Now if they are willing to work a deal and they are asking that much they will most likely ask for more than "equal equity" for a traded vehicle. An example I can give is we traded a Titan 55k MSRP for a Rogue 35k MSRP just because they were the only ones that had one.

Another question, good sir....

If I fill out the price request form on a dealer's website, and I have bought a vehicle from them in the past, does the dealership usually look that info up to see if someone was a past customer?

That depends on the system they use for customer tracking.
Example* We us XRM as our customer relations manager. If you filled out a price request form our internet department would be notified and reach out trying to set an appointment. Then a salesman either who gets you or (if proper follow up is followed) your previous salesman would help you when you arrive.

Some dealers send internet work to salesman, some have dedicated staff for that and so on. Most manufacturer dealers not little used lots will keep your information and know you are a returning customer. Everyone at a dealership is almost always eager to work with someone who has bought a car from them before as a level of trust is already built.

I hope this doesn't all go the route of the Camaro back in 2016. The people were so loud about markup and expecting markup oh, the dealerships had no other choice I mean everybody was expecting it. The customers spoke mark up into existence. Why people would just expect it as a way of life and get ready to to pay it I would never know. Then again with my collection maybe I can be all anti markup. Yeah never got the latest generation of the Camaro because of all that markup.

(looks at thread title)

So, how's your day going?

In all seriousness, think we'll get any news this month? New quarter for Nissan, maybe it brings news?
Hoping to get news on allocations and some production number at the end of the month!

As for me pushing these Z car orders to the moon and trying to sell cars we don't have to customers that can't test drive because cars are sold before they hit the lot.

Mark ups are going to exist for 99% of dealers just because there are no cars to sell. There was a base Versa in Cali selling for 31k! It's about working with the right dealer/person to not get boned in the current market.

But if you read what I wrote, these markups were happening before. I used the 2016 Camaro SS as an example. The folks anticipating that automobile really did just accept the fact that there was going to be major mark up. I guess that's because it was a new design. Same thing happened when the C8 came out. They said $60,000 and dealerships should not mark them up. The first ones that came off the line right before covid were selling on lots for $100,000. I expect when there's no longer a shortage of computer chips all prices will come down. I'm just good with my old German Shepherd hauling Ram 1500 for my daily and my charger for the car shows. When I can get a Z car for about 40 or 45 Grand I'll pull the trigger. Hopefully that's not 4 years away

I understand what your saying. Marking up a vehicle just because you can isn't right.
