Yeah, I wish Honda would have bored out the engine to take it all the way to 299cc or more, instead of the 286cc that it is. For an engine this size, it would have made a noticeable difference.

And yes, the CB300R would certainly leave a bit to be desired in the power department, especially if it were to serve as a one-and-only bike.

I've thought about selling (but probably won't) both my CB300R and 919 (CB900F) and getting the CB650R... Only thing is, the CB650R is quite a bit heavier than I think it should be, at 445 lbs. A modern bike like this really ought to be more in the 420 lb range.

Weight is an issue with Japanese motorcycles, kind of a trade off for reliability.

I look forward to the 400z. But I also would love to own a gen 4 Viper, Shelby gt500 super snake, and an avantador at some point in my life. I’d more than likely be able to own all three eventually.. but I’m sure better stuff will be out by that time

That is my neighbors car. I actually own a gen 2 viper ACR, c8, and a.. dare I say… 2021 Supra.

Made this account quick and not really the type to take pictures of my OWN cars ?
? Nothing wrong with that. I remember you mentioning the C8 & Supra but saw the 650 and thought you might have switched it up. I was maybe 7 when the original Viper came out and have had a thing for them since. Every now and then I pass the same gen 5 ACR leaving work and its road presence is insane to me for the few secs that I see and hear it.

Now the gen 5 ACR is amazing. But unrealistic for me to put on any list. I wish my town had one. It’s cool of you to even be able to consistently see one of those bad boys. Although i will say that that I’ve got a guy one town over that has a car collection self named « the Hamilton collection » (you can find him on insta) and he’s got every pagani, Konesegg, and Bugatti obtainable. Along with p1, senna, Ford gt, Porsche 918, etc etc…

.. Still no gen 5 ACR tho ??

Exactly, that's how I know it has to be the same one ? It's a nicer part of town so I get to see some pretty wild cars regularly, but spotting it once every couple months just hits different. Some cars look the part but can't back it up, others back it up but don't look it... with the ACR for me it's just undeniable as to what it's all about ?

Dooo it!!!

I'm a Honda fanboy (motorcycles) and have several of them. Not as powerful as the MT-03 or Duke 390, but my CB300R is right around only 300 lbs fully wet after putting on a Yoshi exhaust and fender eliminator. Will be a few pounds lighter still when the time comes to replace the lead acid battery with a Lithium. Oh, and this thing can get over 70 MPG.

So I actually made an attempt to acquire a motorcycle. I was looking to get a 2022 MT-03 re-geared (-1+2), or splurge a bit more on a new MT-07.

To my surprise, my local dealers have these readily available in stock. Several, in fact, they even have both 2021 and 2022 models (no real changes other than color on the MT-03). I thought that was fishy.

Then I found out why, in 2022, nice motorcycles are sitting in dealer showrooms. Fucking WA State passed legislation in 2020 making it ridiculously convoluted to get a motorcycle permit. Prior to 2020, you merely needed to pass a written test. To get your endorsement you needed to pass another written test (25 questions) and a riding test.
Now, they want you to pass BOTH the riding test and a new, 50 question test (which, BTW, many of the answers are not multiple choice, they are graded on understanding of the written answer) BEFORE you can get your PERMIT. In fact, to get your permit, you must trailer your motorcycle to the test. If you ride it in you get busted. The only way around that would be to sign up for motorcycle lessons with a vendor who can also proctor the test, allowing you to use one of their motorcycles.

So, I am late by about 2 years and I now have another reason, amongst several others, to leave this shitty state.

Well that is suuuper lame. For a beginner, I do think the MSF Basic Rider Course is totally worth it cuz they also do the license test (or at least they did when I took it decades ago). But how stupid is it for them to make you jump through so many goddamn hoops, especially just for the permit!?

Perhaps you could have your licensed friend ride your bike to the test for you?

Also, if you gotta do all that nonsense just to get the friggin' permit, then what about the actual license test?

Yeah. Overall, there are maaany problems in California, but at least we can legally lane-split here. It's SUCH A BOON.

But I hear ya. I grew up in and started riding in AZ, where there isn't even a mandatory helmet law!*

* edit: I dunno if this was in effect back in the early 2000s, but apparently 17 and younger must wear helmets in AZ.

I'm from AZ and I had my motorcycle endorsement in AZ. Stupidly, I didn't botherto transfer it when I moved here in 2001 because the process for acquiring a permit, and a license, was fairly easy, like AZ at the time, so I put it off and basically just rode dirtbikes in WA. I also felt riding on public streets in WA is more risky than AZ.

WA also began requiring insurance for motorcycle in 2020, although I would have had it anyway, so not mad about that.

A few years back we were required to obtain a boat operators license. Just a money grab. We have owned boats in AZ and WA, and we had our boat for several years in WA before the state decided that all of the sudden we needed a license. More like they need revenue.....

To make that new legislation less bitter, lane splitting was added to the bill. But it was stripped away before it passed.

LAME!

There's no reason motorcyclists should have to sit in gridlocked traffic just because piece of shit cars take up too much damned space!

^ That "moving vehicles" really needs to be changed to "slow moving vehicles". Motorbikes or cyclists going between lanes of cars that are stopped or crawling along is fine (as long as the rider is careful of wing mirrors!), but when they weave in and out around faster moving traffic is when they become a hazard for themselves and the car drivers.
