I'm new to Nissan, being a multi-Mazda owner for more than 10 yrs.
Does VR30DDTT has intake valve carbon deposit issue over time?
Toyota solves this by use of dual spreading (direct + port).
How does VR30DDTT mitigate this issue? (if any)
Or, maybe, owners just need to monitor this at some point in time.

on other Direct injection engines catch cans are being used as a method of removing excess oil to help reduce carbon build up,
And it still doesn't fully eliminate the problem, just mitigate at best (in BMW land anyways)

The big takeaways from OP to me are......

External CSC, no more plastic BS where you might the tranny has to come off.

Better surge protection for the turbos, that added boost relief is huge and now BOVs are optional.

Possibly larger impellers, I know with the Qs you can go up to 30% bigger with the stock housing - More gains possible from bolt-ons and it also means stock won't be as stressed.

Yeah there's going to be carbon deposits, you can greatly help this with a catch can.
I currently use Mishomoto
https://www.mishimoto.com/infiniti-q50-q60-catch-can-2016.html

But I'm sure there's going to be plenty of options in the aftermarket to help this.

The next problem you might gotta worry about is the belt, but I think they fixed that with a revised belt.

He covers it here, and shows installation as well.

The old part number is

5CA0A and the new one is 5CA0B

It appears that the Z is the first in Nissan lineup to have the turbo diverter valve, same principal as BOV. The euro guys (e.g. VW, BMW, Benz) have been messing with the technology and do a bit of mod to get the BOV effect (venting to atmosphere) for the sound.

I use the recirc on by B9, and it sounds amazing. Not crazy obnoxiously loud like the open dump, but still very JDMesque. Can't wait to see what HKS and TIAL come out with on this platform.

Good thread, let’s keep this post going with proven upgrades, I’ll be tracking it almost exclusively, so need reliable sources. TIAL and HKS are two that’s been out for years.

I will probably first go with KW V3s and mild tune first before any major mech upgrades
