Personally, if I could find a supra that wasn't price gouged out the wahzoo, I'd buy it over the Z. In fact I'm constantly looking for reasonable listings.

I've experienced the new supra and honestly, all the bmw jokes asides, it's a really solid car. I'm also not someone who has a hard-on desire for a manual so it being an automatic has no negative affect on me. Though if I was in this youtuber's position, I may have done the exact same. The used market is absurd right now, and to own a car for a year, with modifications, and break even / small profit on sale is a no-brainer (given that you have another daily driver ofc).

I paid off my Supra early and am finishing out my garage so I can have the Supra and Z side by side. I've had the Supra for just over 2 years now and enjoy diving it every time. If the Z is as good or better, then it'll be a great car. As @Gobby said though, the used market right now is insane. I've seen several A90 owners selling for the same or more than what they paid, and several have moved into Porsche 911s. It will be interesting to see how the market is next Spring/Summer when the Z releases.

I planning keeping both (once I get the Z). The Z is replacing a 370. I quite like the A90, but have been a fan of Zs for a long time (have only owned two).

now, if I’m blown away by the Z, this could change. I did check the market and was offered $4k more than I paid a year ago for the car new.

Not to buy a Z, but I seen a number of MK5 owners selling to Carvana & Vroom and getting more than what they had originally paid.

ive noticed a lot of used ones for sale. to me, if the zupr4 is as awesome as some make it out to be, i personally wouldn't sell one for a measly $2-4k more than i paid.

couple that with the money spent modding/upgrades or wheels and they may have broke even or lost a little. if they are moving to a better vehicle or trying to correct their budget because of overextending themselves...i can understand.

i feel some are getting out from under them because of the issues and multiple recalls. others may be bored with auto only. i know the power jump between the 2020 to the 2021 really hacked a lot of 1st owners off too...

Dang the ignorant assumption is unbelievable. Guess people that sell their houses for profit are also ”correcting their budget”

give me a break ?

In auto lending, I've seen a TON of trading to "lower my payment".

Even if they have to go 84 mo. ?

Just like every other sports car. So you’re surmising that because there are used Supras for sale that people aren’t satisfied? Generally early buyers of sports cars don’t own them long as they’re always searching for the next best thing. This is why they typically depreciate quickly in addition to not being practical. Add on that this may not be his/her primary mode of transportation. So now you can sell and not take a bath on it. Don’t worry the same thing will happen to the Z when the next hot thing comes out later. Maybe you can post the same thing about the Z being not so awesome.

Forums are a funny place. Beer goggles take over and any objectivity is forgotten.

I've driven quite a few Mk. Vs and I was one of the many haters.....until I drove it

It looks good (IMO), It sounds AMAZING (angry at all times in Sport+), the Power is there, the tuning potential is huge, the ZF8 Auto really and truly is every bit as good as a DCT (in this car at least), the cockpit is a nice place to be.

You can't drive with the windows down (deal breaker)
It feels it's weight, understeer out the ass
370Z handles way better
The damned roof overhangs are RIDICULOUS in this car, you have to tuck your chin in your chest to get in and out
BS aside, it's a BMW....fun while new but you WILL have issues down the line and the B58 is classic "German Engineering" - it's gonna be a PITA when it breaks

Z will have a stick and Nissan reliability. The VR30 is no slouch, the handling will be improved over the 370?! - Sign me up.

Oh yeah, it also has a stick with SyncroRev Match.

TL;DR I respect the Mk. V but I'll never own one, Z is a better car.
