Short Shifter Install

Looking to install the Z1 short shifter. Anyone have any tips on install? Photos of the center console removed would be great. I’m not quite sure of everything that needs to be removed.

Here are a couple pics, probably not too helpful.

Use a set of plastic prys so you don’t mar the plastic, it’s not very durable.

Here are some basic steps:

1. Pull up the plastic shifter shroud
2. Pull up the center console, there are couple screws on top and 2 on the sides behind the seat. To totally remove the center console, you’ll need to remove the parking brake. I didn’t, you can work around it.
3. Lift up and pull out the cell phone tray.
4. Pull the usb holder out towards back of car
5. Unbolt and remove the metal shifter shroud
6. Underneath the car, remove the linkage boot and remove the bolt, freeing the shifter.
7. Unbolt the reverse lockout.
8. Remove the shifter basket and install on the new shifter.
9. Install everything in reverse order.

This is going from memory, but it’s not too difficult. There are two clips in the front of center console that can get bent and make it hard to reinstall, look out for those. Also the shifter has some very sticky, indestructible grease that gets everywhere and is hard to clean, use gloves if you can.
