It's an evolution of the Z33/Z34 door handle. They could've done a button less, touch sensitive on the inside of the handle (like supra, audi, bmw etc.) But if you watch Alfonsos interview with Motoman he mentions the difficulty of changing just a door handle design (making it flow flush with body) so foregoing the touchless feature mightve been for favor of cost savings.don't you find it esthetically a poor design
