Former g37 coupe owner, current gen 2 BRZ owner. A few weeks ago, I spent about a weekend with a '23 Z Performance 6MT and was very pleasantly surprised. Loved the old school sports car feel that the car offers (one thing I love about the twins). Love that they kept the gauge pods, just like in the previous iterations I've driven, but that was some years ago.

To be honest I never cared much for driving the 370z outside of its looks. The clutch and shifter in this new Z feels much better, more solid and engaging. Clutch feel is more intuitive. The shifter feels more mechanical than how i remembered the 370z. My main complaint is you cant shift it too quickly or the car doesnt seem to like it, and the mushy cable feeling I disliked in the 370z starts to resurface. But for most of the driving I did, the shifter was very nice to use

The car overall was a very nice space to be in, much more quiet and comfortable compared to the twins. The engine pulls smoothly and I much prefer how it's tuned compared to a base 718 Boxster (300hp, turbo 4) I also had for a weekend.

I expected the car to ride a lot softer given all the reviewers' complaints, but I thought it was perfectly fine. Granted there is a lot of body roll when you push it in turns, but I dont think every car needs to be aggressively sprung to be a canyon carver. Sure maybe it could be just a little stiffer, but I think the complaints about suspension tuning are somewhat over exaggerated when you consider that Miata's are also very softly sprung. For a GT sports car, I really liked how it rode

I still havent driven the current Supra. It's a *cool* looking car in person, but I wouldnt say it's a pretty one. some angles look odd; I think the Z looks more elegant and timeless and it looks and feels much more like a passion project. I might get around to driving a Supra eventually. I know they are great performance cars, but here is where I echo the sentiments about many reviewers (people like Matt Farah) in that I dont find them as interesting a car as the Z

Good thoughts, I came from a GR86 with performance pack. I really loved the chassis and its toss-able playfulness. While it was a second car I wanted to do some longer road trips with it and I just found the engine to buzzy over 65 and road noise is pretty high for it being a coupe. I do wish the Z has the playfulness the twins do and from factory it’s just a GT car but since adding the NISMO coilovers and stabilizer bars it has helped split the difference. I plan on doing some bushings and maybe some adjustable suspension components if I think it’ll take it further, probably this summer.

I do miss the GR and really loved the seats it had but the Z just fits my use case better for now. But don’t get me wrong in a couple of years from now I may just pick up a nice used one spec’d correctly and toss on a harrop supercharger and have it as an in town/track toy third car!

Totally get it, the driving feel of an 86 chassis is pretty unique for a modern sports car in this price segment, but it is a noisy place to be. I loved the cozy feel of the Z interior. A Z shedding a little weight and refining the suspension tuning would be a very nice in between of the two.

Too many cars on my short list of cars I want to add, but down the line I'd like to somehow find my way back into a nissan

Totally agreed! I have the suspension part handled but not sure I want to sacrifice the comfort to shed 200-300 lbs but if it could lose that it’d be almost as playful as the twins with the reliable HP every twin owner wishes for!

I hear you about the 86. I had a BRZ for awhile. Fun car but one of the noisiest cars I’ve ever had. Just not comfortable for me for anything over a short trip. My Z is pretty much perfect for me, especially on road trips. I don’t feel beaten-up and exhausted after the ride.

I hear you on the noise, comfort was overall okay for me. The seats were better in my opinion but the leg width wasn’t nearly as good to stretch out your hips and I would constantly bang my right knee against that plastic. The engine was just okay too, not the smoothest thing!

I've had a '22 and '24 GR86. Loved both. Handle far better inherently than the Z. Tighter. Seats in the GR86 vastly superior to Z. Way better seating position. Yes noisy, but a little bit of sound deadening helped tremendously on the '24. I may end up trading for one again. Who knows.

I hear you! If I could get 275+ hp in one reliably for under $10k extra I’d probably do it!

It's definitely a noisy car. I can't spend too much time in anything remotely luxurious or it takes me a second to adjust back to my BRZ heh.

I found the brz/86 seats more comfortable than the Z seats which I think needs more padding. BRZ/86 is my pick for a road trip car if I'm driving solo (I've done multiple 6-7 hr drives). Not to mention the way I like to whip it through turns would make passengers carsick

Z is definitely the quieter, more comfortable, more cozy space to be and would be my pick with a passenger

Maybe that’s part of the reason I moved on to the Z is my daily is a IS350 which is a much nicer and quieter interior than the GR.
