Hi,
I just bought a 2024 Z Nismo, and love it so far! I have a few random questions, any help would be appreciated.
1- Is there any secure, and non damaging phone mount that works well with the car? (I want to eventually do track days, and need the phone in view for using Track Addict app)
2- Is the car supposed to come with a tow hook? I can't find it anywhere. If not, what is the proper tow hook, and how does that grill cover come off?
3- What oil level, and what viscosity are people using for track use? I think I saw somewhere that it should be from full to -8mm or something like that, but not sure.
4- What is the best VDC setting for the track? I'm thinking one push with traction mode. I thought using Sport+ would reduce the electronic interference, but not sure if I have to hit the VDC button as well for best, most neutral performance.
5- What does share vehicle information (vehicle status sharing) do? I seems to keep turning itself on when I try to turn it off
6- What is the vehicle data transmission setting?
7- The blind spot and cross traffic beeping is extremely low, is there a way to increase the volume?
8- What is the "Timer Alert" in the menu on the left steering wheel controls?
9- What would be a good spare tire that would fit the bigger brakes, and work front and back? I would want to have the ability to have that for long trips, and track days, so I'm not stuck. Also, I can always have someone bring it to me if I'm local, so I can avoid a tow.

Sorry for all the questions, but would love to get all my answers before I break it in. I'm REALLY loving it so far!
Here she is in the garage:

welcome you are gonna love it!!

1-ive got a windshield mounted holder for track days would that work? If so I can go find the brand of it. ive never had great luck with the ones that mount to the dash or AC vents.

2 I dont think it came with one but there is a square area of the front plastic grill that pulls off for it.

3 yeah sounds about right. for tracking you want it a little under full to reduce pressure doesnt have to be perfect. as for oil for light track days and frequent change OEM 0w-20 will work. I know some who go to 5w-30 like a motul

4 the NISMO has a special mode called traction mode. you hold the button down for 5 seconds until you see traction show up on the dash. this brakes the inside and outside wheel slighly during a turn to reduce under and over steer. its not intrusive at all and you can get sideways

5 sends data to nissan for things like nissan connect app. I would just leave it on as its a pain as it will turn itself back on every time the car is started.

6 again just sends data to nissan incase of a crash or stolen car ect. just leave it as is

7 I know you can make it brighter not sure about the volume.

8. I think its just a timer you can set for various reasons. never messed with it.

9 the spare from the older 350z /370z works

Thank you! I truly appreciate you taking the time to answer all the questions!
I just have a few follow up questions for clarification.
(I'll use the same numbers for each topic).

1- Ok great, I have a windshield mount, I'll use that one.

2- Can I use the Nissan one (part# 51112-1KA0A ) that seems to fit all Nissans (definitely fits the regular Z, but the nose is longer on the Nismo). And, do I just pull straight out on that grill piece, or is there a release tab, or other trick? I don't want to break anything.

3- Perfect, thanks!

4- That sounds good. That's pretty much the conclusion that I seemed to come to after reading the owners manual.

5- Ok, I'll leave it on

6- Ok I'll leave that on too

7- I think the volume is fixed, but hoping I was wrong since it's barely audible with closed windows and the stereo off. So completely useless if theres any noise at all in the cabin. BTW how do you make it brighter, I don't remember seeing anything in the menus, just curious.

8- I guess the timer is probably not that important. Maybe I'll play with it one day to see what it does. If it's anything cool or unexpected, I'll write back, lol

9- I assume based on outer diameter, I would have to get the 145/60/20, right? And it will definitely fit front and back, and clear the Nismo calipers and rotors, right?

Thanks again for your time!

not sure the specifics but I know Zs in the past have had the oem brembos then bigger akebonos. our new NISMO has 15" calipers over 14" so might need to make sure it would fit

for the traction control you can hold it down after it says traction mode to turn it off but I would suggest leaving traction mode on. ive done some very competitive autocross in that mode and I love how it feels not intrusive but keeps the car in check

I had the same question about the tow hook. Baffled how it is not included.

I took the risk and bought a Mishimoto tow hook to test fit. It just clears. Odd how the front part is clipped on. It looks like I can remove it with some effort but don't want to break it off.

See pictures below.

Thanks! It's hard to tell what's going on with the clips, but it looks like it's clipped on the top left and the bottom right. Did you just grab that piece and pull it straight out using brute force? It feels like it's going to break, so I stopped. Is there a trick?
As far as the door hanging, that tether should have an arrow on the end to prevent it from falling off. You can probably pinch the "arrow" closed to remove the tether and cover completely. I wouldn't leave it hanging like that because you can lose or damage it if you drive the car like that.

Yeah it is two clips, top left and bottom right. I was also nervous about breaking it. Almost stopped, but it just did not make sense to me it would not come off, so I pulled harder and it came off.

Right you are about the end. It is an arrow and does seem like it can be pinched close to pull out.

Perfect, thanks!
Do you happen to know the overall length of the Mishimoto tow hook? I am trying to figure out how it compares to the OEM one

Thank you! It is definitely a decent amount longer than the stock one. I think the stock one was 7 or 7 1/2" +/-. It's quite a difference. I'm second guessing if the stock one will fit, because the nose is a little longer on the Nismo.

It turns out I did receive a stock tow hook with my car. It was in a package with the front license plate frame I did not install. So now I have both to compare.

You are correct. The oem tow hook is short. It does fit but barely. I don't think I would be comfortable with using it although I do think it would perhaps work.

I also did remove the cover fully. It is not hard once I worked it out.

Thank you so much for going above and beyond to help me out!
That's exactly what I needed to know. I wasn't sure that the stock one would fit with the extended nose, but it looks like it would (but barely, lol)
