Not sure which thread this goes under but i have a 24 z nismo that just recently started making like a loose pulley noise at while idling with brakes pushed down {IE sitting at a stop light} It doesn't do it all the time either. Seems to go away shortly after letting off the brakes. Its been in the 20's F around here in MD so idk if its just from the cold or what. any ideas?

Loose pulley sound would be bad. Does it sound like belt screech? Maybe that’s where you were going with loose pulley. My guess would be this, especially if it calms down once things are warmed up.

Possibly, first noticed couple days ago. heard if over the radio a little bit but when away after i left off the brakes and started driving as normal. It’s not an everyday thing so I guess it wouldn’t be the pulleys themselves. Just cold weather stuff maybe lol. I’ve notice a lot of random shit happen now that’s it’s getting a lot colder out around here.

My last Z33 developed that issue during the winter after a belt change. On a VQ35 the tensioner pulley is on a threaded rod which made it really easy to tighten (other than jacking the car up and removing the undertray). I need to look into how that’s done on the VR30.

If it’s a light chirp and goes away pretty quickly it’s usually not a problem, just an annoyance. If it gets worse (lasts longer and longer) you‘ll want to do something about it, or have someone do something, as the belt could be getting glazed (not sure if that’s the right term) where the friction burns the rubber a little and makes it even more prone to slipping.

Talked to buddy at Nissan, said he needed to hear/see it so it just did it again today and literally as I pulled into the dealer lot it decided to stop 🤦‍♂️ goes away or becomes a lot less noticeable when I put it in park.

I have this loud screechy/chatter sound when doing a pull in 3rd towards the top of the rev range. It’s more noticeable on decel. I have a video but it takes forever to upload on here lmao. Does anyone have any similar sounds they’ve heard? It’s a 24 performance 6mt
