I purchased my Performance Z yesterday with 1183 miles, added 600 miles driving it home for Columbus, OH. I have a 3-4k road trip from Missouri to California plus.

my question is. When do I do my first oil change? Manual says there is no reason to do an oil change till after 5k miles.

1. Now, before my trip, because it’s the end of the break in period?

2. Wait till 5k or 7.5k miles on the odometer?

I recommend do the oil change anyway since you're taking it cross country, it's just cheap insurance and peace of mind. After that do the optimum 5K mile intervals.

If you plan on keeping the vehicle any length of time, I'd recommend changing it right away.
This Youtuber makes a compelling case for a very early 1st oil change. His channel has fantastic information on everything you'd want to know about motor oil.

I think we get 3 free oil changes.. is there any consensus about having that service done at the dealership? Do they try to up sell other services?? Is it much easier just to get a local mechanic to do it??

I had mine done right after the break-in period ended at 1,250 miles, just to make sure that any residual/debris from manufacturing gets cleared out from the engine. I doubt there was any but I'd rather have the peace of mind. Of course, the manual says 5k interval between oil changes so there is nothing wrong in taking it a bit longer, the choice is totally up to you!

Had mine done at a Nissan dealer, but not the original one I bought the car from. Their recommended oil change includes installing a "boost fuel treatment", and they charge $167 for that. Ended up paying $89 for the oil change at the other Nissan dealer.

I bought my 2025 Performance used with 300 miles on 7/22, it was bought new by an older woman on 6/5 and traded back on 6/21 for a larger used car and cash as hubby had difficult time entering/exiting. The Maroney show complimentary Customer Care 3 oil changes within 2 years. I asked the mgr about that and he said goes with the vin but I read that it is only for original purchaser. Do you think the dealer/Nissan will honor the 3 oil changes.
