Does anyone actually want an automatic?

Auto for me. I have had lots of manuals (including a 240Z) so sorta been there, done that. Manuals are lots of fun but I've moved on. Autos are quicker and get better gas mileage. Last highway trip that I took the mileage was 7.8 litres per 100 kilometers (36mpg CDN).

Auto... I'm using mine as a daily and don't need or want to row gears constantly.

I have my 70 Camaro and 53 F100 (hopefully finished end of this coming spring) for the loud, shifty fun.

Auto all the way, love the Auto in this one. I can paddle when I feel like driving manual.

My Z is my first manual car, and I'm having a great time learning on it so far. I wouldn't have minded the automatic, but I felt the manual suited the old-school feel of the whole car better. Nine gears feels like a few too many, and not having a console shifter I can use to manually shift up or down was a dealbreaker.

That's really my only complaint about the auto is too many gears.

I have had a few manuals in my lifetime but just went for the auto on the Z. I had no requirements for the transmission and actually really enjoy how fast the auto shifts. It's fun in its' own way. But yes too many gears for paddle-shifting to be as fun as it could be.

My next project sports car will be a manual. Looking for a C4 Corvette (1984-1996), the most beautiful Corvette ever made in my opinion.

The Z is going to stay as the fun weekend / road trip and occasional drive to work car - which is better suited as an automatic to me.

Manual only. No point in the auto in 2022. If you aren’t going to religiously, slowly row your gears out of holy reverence, buy an EV. Otherwise get slaughtered in your auto sports car by a model 3 on autopilot for lack of faith.
Exactly. This is my reasoning and the Manual Z in Yellow checks all of my boxes for a dream car. If I was getting a new car and it was going to be automatic, I might as well go full electric and get way more benefits. I got the manual because I want to have fun in a sports car before that option doesn't exist anymore.

I will say that I miss being able to slowly crawl through a parking lot or traffic jams without fear of hurting my clutch.
