OMG mate, sorry to hear about this - especially after such a long wait... :(
Keep us posted on Nissan (Australia's) response to this. It's pretty farked.
I hate the idea of ASC, but actually didn't mind the tone/sound of the artificial engine note. It definitely wasn't a Turbo V6 (lol) but it sounded tough.
I turned mine off when I upgraded the sub (as I've said elsewhere, this is mandatory, or your ears will literally bleed...) but I also did...
For most cars, and most people, I'd tend to agree.
However...
The black roof and rear light bar on these things is VERY susceptible to fine hailine scratches that show up very clearly in the sun. It takes almost nothing for a light spec of dust to cause a scratch if someone inadvertently...
front lip scraped on driveways, but I consider it a sacrificial part. It is easy to source and replace if it gets too munched up.
I dropped my 1" all round, and the scraping was intolerable, so I put Air Cups in the front. No more scraping :)
Just got back from Fulcrum/Whiteline.
Was told they will have the Z parts online hopefully at the end of next week.
This time they changed the rear bushings to a new neoprene compound they are working with (previously I'd only done the front bushings when they installed the front sway bar)...
Yes, it was mandatory after new sub install. I think the artificial noise must come mainly through the sub and with the new, more powerful, unit installed it was literally deafening.
The fake noises sounded good, I have to admit, but didn't sound like a turbo V6... So it always kinda annoyed...
Yes, perfectly.
The plug is different though, so had to cut and reattach the wiring. Also added a fuse to be safe.
As I've been telling everyone though, you'll need to take the car to Nissan to turn off artificial engine noise!
Agree with all of that... Except...
1. I have to do a steep hill start on my way to work every day. Without fail I leave rubber. If it's raining... I take an alternate route. It simply doesn't grip.
2. My actual biggest gripe with the stock rubber is that the breaking point for the grip comes at...
Decision is easier than I thought... Don't get the 4 cyl z4!
Jump on a plane to Brissy and I'll throw you the keys to my Z for a weekend. Plane ticket is cheaper than a missed opportunity! :-)
Lotus Emira > Z or Z4 :)
If that were a geniune option, that is where I'd go! (good luck getting one for $200k though, the options list is longer than the wait time for a Z...)
Also, keep in mind a 6cyl Z4 is going to be faster in pretty much every way compared with a stock Z, but if you spend...
What do you feel is lacking? Just overall power?
For me it feels like I can only get 80% max power to the ground.
My good friend here has an Evo 10, and with mods it is almost exactly the same power as my Z. He absolutely destroys me off the line, but I am quicker about half way through 3rd...
