The last time I was on the track the rear diff oil temp reached a steady 220F, so I think I should accept lower fuel economy for better protection. The increase temperature from the thicker oil will be another trade-off for better protection. I totally hear what you're saying though, even have...
So is the general consensus 75w140 for heavy/track use with a compromise being fuel economy? I'm also looking at Redline but I know Motul makes good lubricants. I have 5w30 Motul motor oil in my Z which was changed back in November '25, last time I checked the oil about a month ago it was...
The S2K weighs a lot less than the Z so there's that. When I was done with the track I left the carbotech pads on for the ride home and it got cold that evening. I could feel the cold pads not biting well and I had to give myself a lot of distance to properly stop the car. I don't recommend...
Look at operating temps of the pads you look at. Most street pads will provide stopping power from ambient to ~700F, beyond that and the pads will glaze the rotors and you will lose braking efficacy. The rotors can also get warped a little depending upon how many times you brake hard at high...
I did the same with my Z. I was on the track 3 months after I bought the car, it only had sway bars and intakes at the time. A year later after brakes, tires, and suspension upgrades, was back on the track 4 seconds faster.😁
If that's the case then yeah do as others have recommended. Brakes and sway bars first. Suspension, cooling, and braces. Leave the engine alone it has plenty of power if you can keep it cool.
General rules of thumbs I follow dealing with traffic in a low car: Make yourself known and seen at all times. Give yourself plenty of room to maneuver. Don't be over confident. Obviously if you're stationary and have nowhere to go you're a sitting duck. But other than that you have...
The Nismo track exhaust sounds really good even without ldps. Not too loud not too quiet. Just right. I will eventually get either LDPs with high flow cats or resonated, not sure which yet.
FWIW Mobil1 extended life does very well with high miles. I've been using 5w30 in my Murano and one cycle in the Z (have since moved to Motul for the Z, after 5k miles it's still gold!).
Question about the endless mx72 plus pads. I see they're good street as well as spirited and track driving. How much dust to they produce? Also how abrasive are they on rotors?
So far their poly bushing arms in the rear are good. Their catch can is good, aluminum oil pan (with the exception of easily sheered threads at 25ft/lbs) good. They did send a replacement for free. Also their trans and diff braces are good. 2pc rotors and braided lines have been good.
