Agree with you - however that was not what I was arguing. Was pointing out that a lesser powered variant has been done previously with the Z.
Now that I’m less lazy, digging back to 1996, there was a $5,000 price difference between the base model and twin turbo 300ZX. Adjust that for inflation...
Don't know if it was competitively priced, but the Z32 300ZX was available with a base V6 and a twin-turbo variant. I seem to remember it being decent from a pricing strategy perspective though.
Money well spent. :)
Seriously, that second ad is one of the best Nissan ad since the 300ZX remote control car commercial with Barbie and Van Halen.
When we're behind the wheel of the new Z we won't give a rip about the lame teasers.
The Q60 weighs 700lbs more than the Supra. The Z will not weigh that much and will not have a 14 year old automatic transmission to put power to the ground compared to a fresh ZF 8 speed in the Supra. The power curves for each engine are too close for a definitive advantage for either car, so...
I would at least have to test drive the automatic if Nissan put a ZF transmission into it. Might even consider it as I'm more banged up from life than I used to be. However I have only ever had manual Zs, and I have my Titan for when I want to be lazy, use adaptive cruise in traffic, and leave...
We'll get a minimum of 5 more years of Z once the new one debuts. After that it's either going to be a clean sheet, fully electric platform, or it will be retired for good.
Lots to unpack here. Wall of text incoming!
Keeping in stride with the "cost-savings refresh" approach Nissan is having to take with their products, they're investing the little R&D money they have into the components in most dire need of attention. Nissan's transmissions, on average, are the...
The first big bottleneck with these cars was cooling, and AMS solved that. The next one is the turbos themselves. Right now you're very limited on options because of the design of the engine with the turbo manifolds integrated into the block. I think there is only one pair of aftermarket...
It's nice to have this achievement, but it's not an indicator of reliability - only performance capability coupled with innovative technology.
The VQ35DE was a Ward's Best Engine even while they had cylinder scoring and oil consumption issues that cost many owners their engines while wearing...
Sorry - no. There were major issues with the engines in the first couple of model years with shredding the accessory belt off of the car due to pulley misalignment. Before you say it's just a belt... yeah it's just a belt that drives the water pumps in an engine whose turbos are water-cooled...
Neither the average household nor the average individual is buying this car regardless of its price.
Attainability is a relative term. I once heard the Global VP of Product Planning for Nissan North America call the GT-R an "attainable" supercar.
In the case of these guys, "attainable" is...
Nissan was first to market in the US with AVM in the 2010 Rogue IIRC.
I have it in my Titan, and I don't think I'd be comfortable with driving a truck this big without it. I never wanted for it in my 370Z, but if it's an option I'll happily take it. It's a wonderful feature.
I agree with you on the general public sentiment. However, like the Z, the cult following of the muscle cars of yesteryear is Dodge's core buyer base that they must satisfy first, and they're successful there, and they're successful without the additional buyers they get from the cheaper and...
